www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic... Not often do I agree with the police, but they're right. As someone who works in retail, this is not a smart move, it's only going to end up getting people injured. If shoplifters know they can be detained for shoplifting, they're more likely to carry and use a weapon.

Lastly on the introduction of cats that live at my house, this is my step-daughters cat, Yu. Also known as Yu-cake, she is an anxious ball of fur with no ears. She does not get on well with the other cats so she pretty much has her own room with a cat door to the outside world.
