Have a read. Would be interested in what the general view is out there. Unless we get so much money for him we could buy a replacement AND have cash to reinvest, are any of the options likely to be the upgrade people want?

I wrote a piece for @optaanalyst.optajoe.com about Gabriel Martinelli with a starting point of view that we needed an upgrade, but after browsing through the data, I changed my mind and concluded that he might be just as good those players we're being linked with. theanalyst.com/articles/gab...

Christian Nørgaard has his joint-highest tally of goal involvements against Arsenal of any Premier League team - he's scored two and assisted one against the Gunners. It's probably why we want to sign Ollie Watkins too as he always seems to net against us.

This is precisely what happened. The same effort, over and over again, with Democrats and Republicans. But America was finally weak enough to simply ignore and its president idiotic enough to go along with it.

When considering the Iran situation, it's important to recognise we're dealing with a fundamentalist regime that utilises proxies, destabilises neighbours, and terrorises and imprisons citizens to whom it is ideologically opposed. And that Iran's government is just as bad.

Good piece. Lack of engagement from outlets = lack of engagement from audience. If outlets do women's football as a tick box or because they think fans should be grateful for any level of coverage, it won't get an audience. Do it properly and the audience rewards you.

Another milestone has now been completed. Every result and final league table has been added to every FA Women's Premier League/National League Season from 1991-2015. This now means the entire history of the three divisions of the WPL/WNL, from 1991-present, is now available to read on Wikipedia!

Surely someone can produce a song to the tune of Scooby-Doo which would be magnificent to hear being sung at the Emirates.

We have an opening on our Data Analytics team at US Soccer for a Performance Data Analyst. This person should have strong foundational skills in data analysis (python preferred) as well as experience in the Sport Science/human performance space (any sport) recruiting.paylocity.com/Recruiting/J...

Everyone is ready

How common is this in professional football ⚽️? An intensive, full-time intern role as a performance analyst that pays nothing. In return, they ask you to bring experience, your own laptop (MacBook) and you must provide your own transport. Yet they’re “committed to equality”.

The visualisation on this match stats page is pretty bad. Did no one think about black on black being a bad idea? www.fifa.com/en/match-cen...

Arsenal dropped (21) points in 10 matches in the 2024-25 Premier League from winning positions. They only went on to win four out of 14 games where they took the lead and then got pegged back to level and were able to go again and find a winning goal (D9 L1).

𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐣𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐞𝐬𝐤𝐨 𝐯𝐬 𝐕𝐢𝐤𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐲𝐨𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐬 Reports suggest Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyökeres are the frontrunners in Arsenal's striker hunt. Using Opta data, we take a look at both to see how they'd suit Mikel Arteta's side. Who would you choose, Gunners fans? 🤔 #AFC theanalyst.com/articles/ben...

Sesko or Gyokeres? theanalyst.com/articles/ben...

Hilarious

You know messed up things have to be for Juventus to only be the third most corrupt ones in the room

Stats and facts about Arsenal on opening day. www.arsenal.com/news/stats-h...

Just noticed that if we make the Champions League play-offs, the first and second legs are either side of the north London derby at their place. That would be a difficult week.

Arsenal have only lost one of their last nine opening day fixtures played away from home in the Premier League (won 6 Drawn 2).

Tough few opening matches but when you expand things out to the opening 10 games, things look a little better for Arsenal.

The last time Arsenal met Man Utd on the opening day was 1989-90 when prospective new owner Michael Knighton came on the pitch juggling the ball. Reigning champions Arsenal lost 1-4 to the Red Devils who went on to finish 13th that season. www.fourfourtwo.com/features/bac...

Infantino using his insta-megaphone to celebrate the “multicultural atmosphere” at the Club World Cup, while at the same time quietly dispensing with planned anti-racism messaging for the tournament as reported by @adamcrafton.bsky.social earlier this week.

Arsenal took 11 points from the equivalent six fixtures last season.

About as hard as it can get.

Arsenal scored eight goals from outside the penalty area in the 2024-25 Premier League. That was two more than in 2023-24 despite the Gunners netting 91 goals in total that season compared with just 69 last season.

Only Chelsea (14) picked up more yellow cards for time wasting than Arsenal (11) in the 2024-25 Premier League.

Only Southampton (37%) had a higher percentage of their shots blocked by opposition defenders than Arsenal (33%). Only Liverpool (180) had more shots in total blocked than Arsenal (178). But then they had 102 shots in total more than the Gunners.

I'd guess this is a result of moving slowly up the pitch and forcing low blocks which in turn negates any space in behind the defence.

I had lunch at the Chelsea training ground once and Frank Lampard pushed in front of me in the queue. He asked for some pasta and the chef gave him a 3/4-full bowl and Lampard said "What's that? I'm not a little girl, fill it up!"

Or his model isn't very good and needs recalibrating. Would also help believing any accuracy by getting the actual number of goals correct. There were 1115 goals scored, minus 33 own goals which would make it 1082.
