Getting Started

We dated some charcoal for @timeteam.bsky.social, and it showed that the standing stone at Farley Moor was indeed Bronze Age. Lovely to see how the project came together! www.youtube.com/watch?v=RtCM...

Dr Bethan Linscott has published new dates for the Lapdo child, and another HYP case study showing how it can be useful to date really poorly preserved bone. Lovely work Bethan! www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

For something a bit more lighthearted. www.bluey.tv/blog/watch-a...

This is excrutiating for us to watch back, but was fun to film and I hope will be of use more broadly. Let us know if you use it for teaching etc.! archit.web.ox.ac.uk/radiocarbon-...

Congratulations to Jamie Cameron, Senior Chemistry Technician in our #Radiocarbon lab who is a 2024 Science Council CPD Award Winner. @oxradiocarbon.bsky.social @socsci.ox.ac.uk

Registration for the Radiocarbon Short Course will close 28/02. Come along if you would like to learn a bit more about radiocarbon as a dating technique or as a tracer, or you would like some training on OxCal; conted.ox.ac.uk/courses/shor... @unioxarchaeology.bsky.social @isotopesuk.bsky.social

Does your project need some 14C dates? The next deadline for NEIF is 26th March. Please get in contact if you are thinking of applying. Open to PIs, post-docs and students. 1-99 dates. You can even come to the lab to work on your own samples if you'd like. www.isotopesuk.org/apply.html

The Oxford Radiocarbon Accelerator Unit have joined BlueSky! Very happy to be here. We'll continue to post a little on the other place (esp. NEIF deadlines and jobs), but hope to transition over here.
