Catopithecus from oligocene of Fayum, Egypt

Zhongjianosaurus yangi adult nourishes his little hidden in their nest, at the top of a tree. This is my coverage for my book project on the Yixian formation. #paleoart #sciart #dinosaur #yixian #china #zhongjianosaurus

Novo livro da National Geographic escrito pelos colegas do @iknowdino , onde tivemos a satisfação de colaborarmos como consultores #biodiversidade #paleontologia

Sad news: paleontologist Dr. Peter Kranz passed away last night. Peter was a brilliant teacher and a good friend who worked tirelessly (and successfully!) to preserve Maryland's fossil resources as public lands.

Meet Bathornis! This small, ground-dwelling predatory bird was related to its more famous cousins, the terror-birds. Huge thanks to @maliciouspizza.bsky.social for his wonderful work in bringing Bathornis to life

Visualizing things I take into account when composing these images, the flow of the scene, the focal points, guiding the eye and

swamp creatures (for "The Crooked Moon")

it's Cartoonist Day!

A young Ptychodus and trio of Pachyrhizodus enjoy a seasonal glut of Protostega hatchlings. My logic is that adult Ptychodus may have been too large to feed on little turtles but they would have been a useful periodic dietary supplement to juveniles.

Lisowicia: a giant dicynodont from my homeland #paleoart #synapsids #lisowicia

Old Ed. Edmontosaurus regalis.

Eu tinha esquecido de postar aqui, ainda bem que @janesaurus.bsky.social me lembrou...Fico grata!!! ✨ DEVOLVAM NOSSO DINOSSAURO! #IrritatorBelongsToBR

So apparently my art blog is now being cited by google's AI as an authoritative source, making people think that my silly art project about brains escaping bodies is a real thing... The state of the internet sucks, man

New #OA paper in @royalsocietypublishing.org #RSOS: we use CT to describe a 3D shark from the Cretaceous Chalk, giving a rare skeletal perspective on shark evolution. A bit of the backstory in 🧵below featuring 🦴 MYSTERY FOSSILS 🦈 CUTE SHARKS 🦷 CHALK DENTISTRY doi.org/10.1098/rsos... (1/13)

A VERY speculative small Prototaxites living along the shores of a river, with rhizomorphs extending into the water to leach nutrients from algal mats and from the water itself. This is actually still consistent with what we know about #Prototaxites. #paleoart #FossilFriday #sciart

A painting of mine from a few years ago. This beautiful old clock my mother has had since I was a kid with some of her other items from around her house. Nine Thirty Two, 2021 Oil on canvas 48”x48”, 122 x 122 cm

#FossilFriday com a descoberta da formiga mais antiga do mundo! Ela tem 130 milhões de anos e é nordestina (possivelmente cearense). Foi estudada a partir de um fóssil encontrado na Chapada do Araripe. +

A large Edmontosaurus regalis is giving the side-eye to a young Tyrannosaurus. Rex that's just passing by.

A pair of Diplocaulus magnicornis swimming in a flooded Early Permian forest alongside a bunch of other animals like a small Eryops larvae Diplocaulus magnicornis was a lepospondyl (which is a weird, likely polyphyletic group) that is famous for its weird boomerang shaped head.

Results from the Flocking #paleostream! Triceratops, Halveticosaurus, Dickinsonia and Melanorosaurus.

Plucked Microraptor leg isn't real. It can't hurt you. Plucked Microraptor leg:

Hey, since the whole #IrritatorbelongstoBr thing is going on, I would just like to remind everyone that Lacusovagus is also in Germany, and so is a bunch of other fossils.

Sometimes great things come from small beginnings, for example, sauropods, which could have their origin in tiny animals very similar to Guaibasaurus, possibly a basal sauropodomorph from the Triassic of Brazil #Paleoart

Okayyy artist introduction time! Hey, my name's Tas and I'm an Australian palaeontology student and palaeoartist. I've been captivated by prehistory almost my whole life and trying to draw it for just as long! I mostly do digital, pencil and papercraft work but anything else is fun too!

And here it is, our second Cambrian formation piece! This time we visited the even older Surius Passet from Greenland, our first real deep sea deposit. #paleostream

My most heavily criticised illustration from recent months: a speculative “armless” abelisaurid. Not actually armless, but with vestigial forelimbs enclosed within its torso. Something that I still think is within the bounds of possibility, even if nobody else does. 😂

The floof squad! In order: Zhenyuanlong suni, Daurlong wangi, Iyuku raathi, and Sanxiasaurus modaoxiensis I just love feathered #dinosaurs so much, and I like the challenge of taking inspiration from patterns that tend to appear in modern birds without copying any one species wholesale! #paleoart

Results from the flocking #paleostream! Monolophosaurus, Juravenator, Aenocyon and Zuniceratops.

Eu acabei de descobrir que @cisneros.bsky.social está no Bluesky. Sempre quis mostrar essa pintura para ver o que ele acha.

Hey it’s #PortfolioDay again!

Had a fantastic evening at God's House Tower (Southampton) for Hidden in Stone, a new exhibition arranged by @neilgostling.bsky.social, bringing attention to south coast fossils including Wealden spinosaurids, the Isle of Wight Paleogene and Pleistocene, and more. Aaand...

Unfortunately the Museum I grew up with. The Löwentormuseum which hosts the paleontological section has amazing fossils. A stolen one should not be there. #IrritatorBelongstoBR

Today's #ArtBoost is for the incredible Ventura de Jesús Salas Galván, based in Mexico (a nation fast becoming a new hub of very skilled palaeoartists). Produces awesome #paleoart showing all sorts of animals, and does work of many styles. And open for commission! venturasalas.deviantart.com

May as well start out the same way here, as in the old place. Not the lifestyle concept I follow for Ceratites but one I find fun :) "Ceratites nodosus" according to Siegfried Rein - Simosaurus gaillardoti - Ceratites weyeri - Coenothyris vulgaris ca. 12h/Acrylic 02.-07.09.2020
