Westminster Library debate: Jonathan Davies MP has opened the debate with a robust defence of these vital services and asks that the government considers developing a full cross-departmental, national strategy for public libraries, backed by robust data.

Absolutely thrilled to be working on this research project with @sharonwagg.bsky.social and @woodsiegirl.bsky.social and 100% Digital Leeds: bit.ly/44VRWbB We're still collecting and analysing data, but we are already seeing how valuable arts and culture are as a gateway to digital inclusion

This looks like a brilliant career development opportunity :)

Now that #lilac25 is done I can start thinking about my new role with @jinfolit.bsky.social, I'm taking over as Managing Editor! This is a HUGE transition for me, which may take some getting used to. But I have ideas and plans and schemes and it's going to be FUN I PROMISE.

I posted last week about the #LILAC25 information literacy award runner up, @sheilawebber.bsky.social reminded me that the 2025 winner, Reecca Mogg is ALSO an alumni of the MA Librarianship programme! Congratualtions Rebecca!

If you’ve been inspired by #LILAC25 & you’re planning your own project or research, or if you’re one of our amazing presenters, you should also think about writing for publication. Take a look at the @jinfolit.bsky.social for advice & information.

Would anyone who's used a read and publish deal to publish a journal article be willing to be interviewed by a student doing a masters dissertation about why? Please let me know! (And please RT)

Three MILA trustees at #LILAC25, the Librarians Information Literacy Annual Conference in Cardiff: Elinor Carmi, Stéphane Goldstein and Jane Secker. Elinor and Jane delivered two of the keynote addresses, so MILA is definitely on the map!

There will be an online open day for the on-campus MA Librarianship and distance learning MA in Library and Information Services Management programmes at the University of Sheffield on Wednesday 30th April. If you'd like to find out more you can book a place at www.sheffield.ac.uk/postgraduate...

When you consider even some of the most powerful and knowledgeable people in the land are also learning and taking notice of Information Literacy, it really makes you reflect on your own practice. A fascinating session from Anne-Lise that covered both her work and the wider sector issues. #LILAC25

Another book recommendation: Richard Ovenden's "Burning the Books: A history of knowledge under attack". Libraries play a vital role in preserving knowledge and memories, which is why they are always a first line of attack for authoritarian governments #lilac25

#infolit

Really enjoying the Lilac stories talk by Jess Haigh - it's what I needed to hear this afternoon at #lilac2025 and Andy Walsh will like this!

Day 2 at #lilac25 has kicked off with a brilliant presentation from two librarians from the university of Houston, Texas on reflection for assessing information literacy. Hand-wrote my notes but wanted to share this awesome toolkit they've put together: libteach.pubpub.org/reflectionto...

#infolit
