250 million acres is just a mind boggling quantity of land www.rollingstone.com/politics/pol...

Easy prey, of course. ICE continues to scrupulously avoid all those drug dealers and human traffickers Trump promised—those people are armed and dangerous! But a day laborer rebuilding a community is unarmed and compliant. Easy, safe way to hit your quota at the cruelty factory.

Buying political influence is a bargain. Warren Stephens purchased an ambassadorship with $7 million. He purchased his house in Carmel (a decade ago!) for $31 million. Jeff Bezos paid $250 million for the Washington Post but twice that for his yacht. newrepublic.com/article/1961...

"These tax cuts will pay for themselves" is one of the GOP's most popular—and biggest—lies.

When ICE agents look like this, it is ENTIRELY APPROPRIATE for state and local law enforcement to step in and demand they identify themselves and show judicial warrants before detaining anyone from an immigration court. Democratic mayor and governors can take action on this.

Keep in mind public land is land owned BY YOU, the taxpayer. Republicans want to sell it off so they can pay for their tax cuts for billionaires and corporations.

So much of our current crisis is rooted in what we think America is, rather than what it is. We are not better than this. We do not deserve better than this. But we can make ourselves better with enough effort, because we want to be better.

This is what even I hadn't considered about the healthcare crisis he is manufacturing. It feels like a prime recipe for self-inflicted dystopia that will cost lives:

does he ... does he think the UK is still part of the EU?

PUTIN WAS KICKED OUT OF G8 in 2014 WHEN HE ANNEXED CRIMEA. TRUDEAU WAS ELECTED IN 2015. THANK YOU FOR THE ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER.

Once again, just months ago, the Mental & Physical Acuity of Geriatric Presidents was The Great Political Issue Of Our Time. This? Won't even be in the papers, let alone on the front page, by tomorrow. Also, again, this is obscene & should immediately end his presidency: bsky.app/profile/mcop...

Imagine thinking you're against government corruption and grift, while being okay with a sitting president launching commercial ventures from the Oval Office.

To put it in terms Trump can understand.

political press is doing a real disservice by basically not reporting the nuances of public opinion on deportations, and creating the appearance that most americans support the stephen miller-style gestapo tactics

It's pretty obvious that a lot of US mainstream media either doesn't recognise authoritarianism or doesn't want to call it out. Either way, it's an excellent way to destroy trust in your institution.

Just four hours ago, even after we’ve learned the shooter was as an anti-abortionist Trump supporter, a sitting U.S. Senator is spreading fake conspiracy theories blaming the murder of a Democratic lawmaker on Democrats. Not only that, he’s pinned the post! Abominably evil stuff from Mike Lee.

when 4-5M people march peacefully against the current regime it's the story of the year. NYT cannot bring itself to focus on that reality.

I just went there to try and find the NYT coverage of the largest protests in modern American history and just kept on scrolling and scrolling and scrolling …

The Tea Party protests in April 2009 had about a third of a million people involved, and the political media treated it like a game changer for the Obama presidency. The No Kings rallies were AT LEAST ten times bigger than the Tea Party protests. Will the press keep pretending Trump is popular?

The rise of the far-right—and its political violence—in the US is one of the least understood and most important stories of modern America. Here’s my podcast season on where it started: longshadowpodcast.com/podcasts/ris...

No great quagmire Billionaires make up .0000003% of the population & yet the top three wealthiest individuals own more wealth than the bottom 50% of our population, and the wealth gap has only become worse since the pandemic & further inflation costs. "The revolution will not be televised."

"Charlatans and cranks"...that tracks 🔽 'Greg Mankiw, a conservative who chaired the Council of Economic Advisers under George W. Bush, famously referred in his widely-used introductory economics textbook to the purveyors of this idea as “charlatans and cranks.”'

Don't let them lie to you about Senator Padilla. DHS is claiming the agents DID NOT KNOW he was a senator. He CLEARLY says (BEFORE he is tackled and cuffed) "I am Senator Alex Padilla and I have a question for the secretary."

📌We are in the most precarious moment in our nation’s history since the beginning of the Civil War. Anybody who is not reporting it this way is dangerous, completely out of their depth, and should not be taken seriously. 📌As the retired managing editor of Stars & Stripes I urge you to share this.

"Sen. Bill Cassidy's deadly gamble: With one pivotal “aye” for RFK Jr., he sacrificed the nation’s vaccine shield to immunize his own political future." New, by me. open.substack.com/pub/robertma...

MADDOW: “What is this country going to allow him to do? This is an attempted authoritarian overthrow of the 🇺🇸 Constitution and Government… imposition of a dictatorial regime. The strength of the movement against him is what will determine our fate as a country.”

This is worth your time. Please watch.

The money being spent on Trump’s ego parade could feed every single homeless veteran in America for more than four months.

“Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.”

And this is why having American aviation communications rely on Starlink was always a terrifying idea

I apologize to the world that we made the most ignorant MF on the planet our president. bsky.app/profile/atru...

Historians and political scientists spend decades trying to determine the influence of money in politics and Musk just tweets out "I bought the election"

Congressman Stephen F. Lynch @lynch.house.gov

Here's something everybody should be paying attention to: Congressional Republicans are trying to weaken the Affordable Care Act and put millions of people at risk of losing their health care. Call your Senators and tell them we can't let that happen.

We still can’t get straight answers on why ICE agents are masked and refusing to ID themselves. On top of all that they appear to be lying about cause. Congress, do you see what’s happening? Don’t be silent! Call your Senators & Reps. Demand an investigation. ☎️ Capitol Switchboard: (202) 224-3121

The One Big Beautiful Bill Act has a provision buried halfway through its 1,000-plus pages that would take away power from the courts.

Already forgotten because we have normalized his incompetence, cruelty and hate. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/01/u...

I wouldnt be too quick to buy this. Musk got what he came for all along—our personal information. The world’s richest guy doesn’t walk away from a $250 mil investment empty handed. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/u...

I spent five weeks talking to federal workers about knowledge loss and brain drain across the federal government, and its implications, both right now and for decades to come. Their stories are frightening, but I think it's important to know what we're facing: www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
