Looking forward to going to my first @arpposts.bsky.social this summer! Meeting old friends and new alike!

ARP 2025 registration is now live! For more information about preconferences, a program overview, how to register, and lodging/transportation, please visit: www.personality-arp.org/conference/. We hope to see you in the Chicagoland area this summer!

An excellent summary of our systematic review on the link between internalized and anticipated stigma and depression - thank you!

The biggest and most beautiful recession we've ever seen. Some might even call it a great depression. #theorangeone

This is some speech. www.instagram.com/reel/DG19xFw...

***Just Published*** Our recent paper (led by phd student Dr Aisling Curtis) seeking to determine if #loneliness in adulthood is an indirect pathway (mediator) between adverse childhood experiences and risk of premature death (measured as time to death across nearly 3 decades)...(1) #adversity

I don’t often feel rage. That said, I’ve been getting pretty damn close, watching one of the few truly warrior like heroes in the world of leadership…Zelensky…being rat fucked by two of the biggest pieces of shit on the planet.

***Just Published*** Our new paper led by doctoral student Aisling Curtis just published in Social Science & Medicine. We review the relation between adverse childhood experiences and loneliness during adulthood. Paper here: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti... #openaccess #loneliness #adversity

Roy Baumeister called ego depletion "one of the most replicable findings in social psychology." As someone who spent 20 years studying it—and ultimately had to admit it wasn't real—I have to respectfully disagree. Here's my perspective of what went so wrong.

Wait till they hear about the crises facing psychology....!

Who made this 🤣

Deadline fast approaching to apply.

I'm in the final stretch of an ERC consolidator grant app. I knew that it would be a challenge and felt I didn't underestimate it, but I still didn't realise how demanding it is. Strangely I have enjoyed the process, but I am not sure if that is some form of psychopathology.... #fingerscrossed

We have a call open for editor for Psychological Bulletin. Deadline is Monday January 13, 2025. If you know someone or you are interested see the link below. Its a great journal to be involved with. www.apa.org/pubs/journal...

New preprint led by one of my doctoral students Aisling curtis. We tested if #loneliness in adulthood is a mediating pathway linking adverse childhood experiences to mortality risk (26 years). Short answer:yes Loneliness is a v important in explaining why ACEs lead to shorter life. osf.io/se5k6

Big news from Finnish publication forum. Almost all MDPI and Frontiers journals will be downgraded to level 0 and thus are not considered as properly peer reviewed trustworthy scientific journals. julkaisufoorumi.fi/en/news/chan...

He died as he lived, clicking “Forgot password,” then checking his inbox for a code, then putting in that code, then setting up two-step verification, and then waiting for the text message that doesn’t come, and then calling the 800 number, and then downloading an authenticator app, and dying.

It would be great if more papers were published that didn't hang onto some theory beating data to death with it. We badly need more research drawing on diverse perspectives beyond the field. Personally, I would be looking to the arts. #venting

If you've been meaning to catch up on some important discussions around preregistration, I'd recommend this exchange in Assessment, beginning with this paper by @klonskylab.bsky.social: journals.sagepub.com/doi/pdf/10.1... (continued, 1 of 3)

**Paper Preprint** We have just uploaded our new paper. It is a preregistered systematic review and meta-analysis of adverse childhood experiences and loneliness. Link below. @amcreaven.bsky.social @hri-ul.bsky.social @emmakirwan.bsky.social #loneliness #adversity doi.org/10.31234/osf...

Maybe one of the reasons there are so many unhinged academics is that in order to keep your job, you’re constantly required to tout yourself as a Scholar of World-Historical Significance, even as your office’s ceiling tiles slowly dislodge themselves to fall on your head.

Half expected a tabloid headline that the grey squirrels were coming in taking the jobs of others squirrels!

"Substantial increase in [alien invasive] grey squirrels in England is concerning, campaigners say." Time to bring back pine martens!!! www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Most folks don’t realize this, but a single pound of beef is responsible for about 100 pounds of greenhouse gas pollution. That’s 50x worse than coal, on pound for pound basis.

Have you wanted to submit a preprint to PsyArXiv but weren't sure what to do? @matti.vuorre.com walks you through the process and links to relevant support articles in this new blog post blog.psyarxiv.com/2024/12/02/p... #openResearch #preprints #openScience #psychology #psychSciSky

I love when you see the title of a talk "a gentle introduction to....". You know its going to be far from gentle! #academia #training
