Does anyone else find it odd how Glastonbury nowadays showcases so many old pop artists who once were the last people you'd expect or want to see at a music festival?

After yrs focused on restoring the 'official' dispute settlement system & not wanting to antagonise 🇺🇸, the 🇬🇧 will join the WTO's interim appeals system - #MIPA 👉This comes after announcement that reform efforts in 🇨🇭 were put on hold By @chrishorseman.bsky.social 👇 borderlex.net/2025/06/26/u...

It's mad that the US Supreme Court's effective permission to the US President to enforce unconstitutional orders against all those who've not yet sued it depends on the extent of the UK Chancery Division's equitable jurisdiction to grant injunctions on a specific date nearly 250 years ago.

Fully agree with this, but I'd also argue that *if* you really want more social housing, then a policy of encouraging housing associations to strategically sell off some old stock to finance the construction of new housing (with lower maintenance & heating costs, etc) is the way forward

If I were to start a 9 years Brexit thread, it would probably take 9 weeks to write, but for now, I'll say that I see a parallel in the "X"-odus to #BlueSky and the departure of Remainers from the Conservatives post-Brexit retreating from the spaces where the battles for ideas are fought and won

Fitting on the day the EU is expected to sign the EU-Canada Security and Defence Partnership, my analysis on the EU's partnership and alliance strategy is now out in English: www.swp-berlin.org/en/publicati...

European Commission being super stingy in the trade talks with Ukraine. It merely wants to grant Ukraine a “limited increase” in tariff rate quotas for “sensitive products” such as wheat and sugar. Those TRQs date from before the Russian invasion.

The EU has an extensive sanctions regime against Russia - but it is constantly under threat of a veto from Hungary and Slovakia as it requires unanimity to be extended .In my latest piece I argue that the EU can overcome this by accusing Russia of economic coercion 1/n) www.cer.eu/insights/cas...

If you're interested in analyzing Russian federal budget spending, here's an interactive treemap you can use. Spending can be ordered by category, program or by ministry. The data is from Q1/2025. Direct links and explanation in my latest Substack: janiskluge.substack.com/p/visualizin...

Chart-heavy thread incoming. This is an attempt to survey the research to answer the question - were the forecasts predicting a lot of Brexit damage correct? 1/n.

Excellent article explaining why both slides agree on fully implementing the Windsor Framework. What it omits is the role of goods imported from third countries... 🧵 1/3

Given that the EU 🇪🇺 is planning a Common Food Safety Area with both Switzerland 🇨🇭 and the UK 🇬🇧 (according to the respective "deals" agreed this year), is it safe to assume: a) that this is the same entity, and b) that it will logically also encompass the EFTA-EEA states?

3 years ago today, the WTO deal to curb harmful fisheries subsidies was agreed by consensus. It’s still not in effect anywhere. Ratified: 102. Missing: 63. To activate the agreement in ratifying countries: 9 more needed. Those subsidies are still not being curbed. Who’s to blame? 1/3

I appreciate your tireless reporting on this agreement @coppetainpu.bsky.social !
