Audio on. Mind blowing praise from the tech sector’s best analyst, Ben Thompson of Stratechery

@patrickmcgee.bsky.social Book #AppleInChina is phenomenal. It’s a must-read. It is one of the rare books where I bought the ebook, audiobook, & after finishing it, the hardcover. I’ve gone digital, but this book is so good it’s getting space on the physical bookshelves in my home. Bravo, Patrick!

Currently reading APPLE IN CHINA by @patrickmcgee.bsky.social. Only a couple of chapters in so far, and very much enjoying it. Well-written and researched, engaging, and informative. Out now, published by @scribnerbooks.bsky.social.

1/Just finished @patrickmcgee.bsky.social's "Apple in China: The Capture of the World's Greatest Company" (bookshop.org/p/books/appl...) and it's a fantastic read. I came away with a new appreciation for Steve Jobs (and, begrudgingly, Tim Cook) and a much better understanding of how we got here. 💙📚

🎧 Listen to the podcast! @financialtimes.com correspondent @patrickmcgee.bsky.social spoke with @mina-kim.bsky.social about his new book "Apple in China" and the threats the company faces from AI and the Trump administration. 🔗:

Absolutely thrilled that Apple in China is a top 10 New York Times best seller for the second week in a row.

This is how the US lost manufacturing — offers just like this. Nobody cared because it kept the knowledge economy. But now…

I didn’t think I’d learn anything new from “Apple in China” seeing as I’ve read everything there is to read about Apple before. But man is this riveting. If you haven’t picked it up yet, get it today.

"Who killed Nokia? The Chinese competition. Why did the Chinese competition do so well? Because Apple trained all their suppliers." Patrick McGee, "Apple in China" author

Even if Apple did stop making iPhones in China, the company’s Chinese partners have already gained valuable expertise from their collaboration

Apple in China by @patrickmcgee.bsky.social probably the most interesting book I have read about Apple in the 25 years that I have been writing about the company. Beyond the geopolitical issues, it’s really interesting to learn all the details about how their products are built.

Solid review in Blooomberg, which calls Apple in China “fascinating” www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Speechless.

Congrats to @patrickmcgee.bsky.social on his debut!!

Wow. Incredible deep and well written and dare I say fun to read tour de force about Apple in China and the incredible marshall plan they invested in to upskill a nation. Read Apple in China. By @patrickmcgee.bsky.social #supplychain #design #manufacturing #thelonggame

Seems like a good moment to reup my recent chat with @patrickmcgee.bsky.social, author of "Apple in China", about why it's so hard to move production of the iPhone to India, let alone the US. Relevant bits of the transcript below. Or listen to the whole thing here: www.reuters.com/podcasts/how...

It's rare to watch an author not just hold their own promoting a book on a subject like tech supply chains but to be engaging and funny is top-tier. I'd be glad to see Patrick do a recurring segment on TDS, that's how good this was 📖 give the people what we want! McGee for correspondent 🤣

Had a fascinating chat with @patrickmcgee.bsky.social about his book, Apple in China. It flips what we know about Apple and China on its head. It's not just that China built Apple. He argues that through massive investments in the country, Apple built China, too. www.vanityfair.com/news/story/a...

Emerging from stealth mode to announce my upcoming book: Apple in China: the Capture of the World’s Greatest Company. It’s the untold, 30-year story of how the tech giant tied its fortunes to America's biggest rival, transforming both company and country.
