On this day in 1984, Liverpool won the European Cup against AS Roma in Rome. For Roma, it was the start of a long unraveling and the beginning of the end for their great captain, Agostino Di Bartolomei. www.cultured.football/p/ciao-capit...

Visited the Basilica of Superga and the Superga Memorial. It serves as a poignant reminder of the tragic 1949 plane crash that claimed the lives of the Torino football team, leaving a profound impact on the club, Turin and Italian football. Beautiful views from the top.

There is no CL place for the Giallorossi, but what an effort from Sir Claudio, who managed to get us in contention after that Juric nightmare. Proud of the team. Daje Roma!

Ciao da Torino! It’s my first time in this magnificent city. In town for the Torino v AS Roma match. We need a win and a Juve defeat to qualify for CL, but it’s laudable that we’re still in contention for CL places after an explicitly awful start. Sir Claudio is a miracle worker.

Brilliant atmosphere last night. Big summer ahead of Servette with René Weiler, Dereck Kutesa and Enzo Crivelli leaving the club. It’s great that we finished second, which means more European adventures. The main immediate goal is to reach a group stage. And competing for the title, of course!

Crystal Palace’s fanbase are the antidote to the sanitisation of English football fandom — and on a glorious, historic day for their club in winning the FA Cup final, they put on a show. They produced something unfiltered. Something real.

Crystal Palace deserves their FA Cup glory after many near-misses.

Accessibility, sign languages, Switzerland and @eurovision.tv/ @ebu.ch - when my worlds collide to make ESC accessible for deaf audiences across Europe. Good luck to the public broadcasters’ access services teams who are working hard to make sure deaf fans feel united by music through sign language!

Servette are embracing the Eurovision party atmosphere by qualifying for European football next season after beating Lugano 4-1 at home. Bring on new European adventures!

Has anyone ever tried Swiss Super League’s SFL TV to watch matches outside of Switzerland? How’s the coverage? I’m not in Switzerland or even in Basel for the FCB v Servette match… 😓

“Deaf students had a path to science careers - until their federal grants ended.” It is a timely but frustrating story to read. Solidarity with deaf scientists and students across the Atlantic. www.npr.org/2025/04/28/n...

Grazie Roma! It was an experience watching an away game in the home end among the Inter fans, who got frantically cross as the game went by. I had no choice to sit there since the authorities closed the away end. So relieved to get a result at San Siro!

FT 🔴⚪️ Biel 1-0 YB 🟡⚫️ Unbelievable scenes at the Tissot Arena. FC Biel/Bienne of the 3rd tier have pulled off one of the biggest Swiss Cupsets of all time, knocking out Young Boys & progressing to the final. They've certainly enjoyed some lucky breaks, but that's how these things go. Incredible.

In Milan for the Inter v Roma game. Love exploring this city and its neighbourhoods and celebrating a year without alcohol (albeit belatedly) with some nonalcoholic aperitivo.

Another brilliant night of European football. I don’t understand why anyone hates the beautiful game…

Blimey. What a pair of free kicks from Rice!

REUNION Episode 1 on Monday 7th April 9pm BBC ONE Warp Films Ltd and BBC Studios for BBC Thanks to Oliver Scullion at Harkin and Toth for subtitling this widescreen trailer!

Just finished watching Reunion, a deaf-led thriller series. It’s fantastic to see British Sign Language, my native lingo, featured on BBC One. Matthew Gurney is brilliant and the cast is talented. Kudos to @wlmager.bsky.social for the writing. Can’t wait for the next ep! www.bbc.com/news/article...

I love stories like that. I’m glad he had a great time. A random awayday experience is usually good fun!

It’s not a good day for Servette. We lost to St Gallen and FCB gained a further advantage. So frustrating. Seven tough matches ahead…

Visited Konstanz for the first time. It’s now one of my favourite German cities. A beautiful historic city centre with a laidback yet lively atmosphere. Some decent coffee shops and restaurants. Lots of nice places to explore. I'll be back!

Ventured into Bregenz for a quick Austrian second-division football match and wandered around the old town and Lake Constance before the Schwarz-Weiß Bregenz-SV Stripfing game. The visitors won 3-1. Given the weird Friday 6pm KO time and the distance involved, there were no away fans. A bit unusual.

I didn’t expect to see several Tyne and Wear Metro carriages on the Swiss-Austrian border. I’m half-expecting to see Ant & Dec, Noddy Solano, Geoff from Byker Grove and the Geordie Dancer turn up. Why aye man! I’m sure it has to do with the fact that a factory is making them nearby. But still.

I think this is one of the first NGT avatars I’ve seen that doesn’t feel uncanny or unsettling. Made using mocap without postprocessing by developers at the University of Amsterdam. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6FfP...

Une soirée frustrante pour Servette. Un but refusé et un penalty appel transformé en coup franc. Ce n'est pas notre soir. Nous devons gagner nos trois prochains matchs. Un défi grand. Une Tribune Nord vide est triste à voir.

@otherbundesliga.bsky.social Hallo! I’m heading to Innsbruck this weekend for some football action. I see that WSG Tirol and Wacker are playing locally (against Hartberg and Tirol II, respectively). Which would be better in terms of atmosphere? I read that Wacker fans bring better atmosphere. Danke!

Grazie Servette! Had a great day, going to Como-Empoli and Lugano-Servette. It’s always nice to go back to Como, enjoying the early spring sun and an entertaining 1-1 draw before hopping back to Switzerland for the LFC-SFC match. Servette deserved the win. Great team effort. Brilliant away support.

Me during the Severance series 2 finale:

I’m glad I travelled to Heathrow last night instead of today. My thoughts are with people who are adversely affected by this power outage.

Joyeux 135ème anniversaire, Servette !

SCOOP: The Independent is to launch an AI news service. Condensed version of its own stories, crunched down to bite size, but still with bylines. The latest development in AI in newsrooms. The Independent have released details after an approach from the Guardian. Full story soon.

Great party atmosphere to celebrate Servette’s 135th anniversary, but Yverdon turned up and spoiled the fun with a 3-2 away win, putting a dent in our championship ambitions. So frustrating. Does anyone really want to win the Swiss league title?!

Lugano’s form in the last few weeks:

“Servette is a great club because it has a great history.” Great article by @danielvisentini.bsky.social ahead of the club’s 135-anniversary match. SFC went through hell a few times before reemerging stronger and more united. Starting this weekend, we still have more stories to write and celebrate!
