This is not quite what it looks like — it’s easy for organizations to piggyback on the word “Cannes” to make it sound to people on the outside as if the festival is giving the award, when it’s a marketing thing for a movie someone wants to sell. variety.com/2025/film/gl...

I watched Following, Christopher Nolan's first feature film, and it was quite nice! A more raw and less refined predecessor to Memento (they share a lot of plot points). And, I can't not talk how it was shot my uni's film society's equipment, which is a fun detail. It's on the Criterion Channel.

Man, was "Utrata równowagi" (Loss of Balance) good. Acting schools in Poland have a serious abuse issue and this movie is a story of one such abusive lecturer tormenting a student that is about to graduate, as they are both working on a diploma play of Macbeth.

George Lucas is 81. He is sometimes criticised for his disinterest in directing actors. However, he’s still come a long way since THX 1138 where he had 3 men on hand to prod Robert Duvall with sticks whenever Lucas felt he wasn’t giving his best.
