The more I observe humanity, the more I respect the honesty of my cats. Sure, they want to kill and eat me, but with honest affection. Once I gaze into the loving eyes of my dear Princess Quincy, I'll gladly offer up my jugular in tribute. She'll refuse, of course. Who would clean up the mess?

First of all, it's late at night and I'm a bit crabby. Second, social media isn't all it's cracked up to be. I'm here, on Facebook, Goodreads, and Bluesky. I don't have the spoons to try to expand further as long as there is no indication that anyone out there is seeing anything I'm writing.

I sold five copies of my books today. I usually sell zero per day, with the occasional deviation from the norm of one book. So five in a day is a big deal. If any of you are responsible, thank you. If none of you are responsible, why aren't you buying my books? Haven't you heard they're popular?

On this fine Christmas day, remember to read books by independent authors. But which I mean mine. They're not specifically Christmas-related, but it sure would make my Christmas brighter. Check my profile for details and happy Jolabokaflod if you celebrate!

What would I like people to say when they finish my books? I'd be happy with: Well, that wasn't a complete waste of my time. They're not great literature. They're not going to win major awards. I'll be happy if they get people to look at life/humanity/cats differently. That's weird, would be great.

The Lynx now has 65 ratings, 7 reviews. Road Kill has 52 ratings, 15 reviews. Thomas lags far behind with 3 ratings (3 reviews). How about taking a moment to give this independent author a chance and at least take a look at what's available. No pressure. Just guilt.

Whenever I post about my books (see profile), I feel very 'wanty'. But as an indie author, if I don't tell people they exist, who will? Well, all of you, hopefully. While reading our books is great, the best thing you can do is tell other people about them. Indies thrive or fail on your words.

No Tail was an alley cat in Kabul during the war who managed to befriend the American soldiers stationed there. When it was time for the soldiers to come home, they refused to leave their friend behind. Please support the effort to publish his story. www.kickstarter.com/projects/maz...

Wow, Robert Kennedy Jr. just followed me. For about ten seconds before I blocked his ass.

I got my 50th rating on The Lynx. Road Kill has 40, but I have hopes. Sales finally exceeded ad costs. Given all the posts about "commercial sales", I don't need sales, per se. I have a full-time job. But I hope people enjoy reading what I've written. That, to me, is why I write. And immortality :)

I'm starting to think the ICC isn't going to be completed in time for Capclave (capclave.org) this year. Maybe I should print up one of the Kaylee and Kevin novelettes at Staples as a chapbook. What do you think?

The International Criminal Conspiracy has, at long last, reached 100K words. And there was much rejoicing. The Lynx has also reached 48 ratings. Just two more to go to reach the magical, totally irrelevant, threshold. I can't wait. Road Kill is languishing at 38 ratings. It needs to get a move on.

I posted a free short story on my website. Kaylee and Kevin are starting University. For Kevin, at least, not everything is going smoothly. pdhaggerty.com/2024/07/18/t...

Snippet of the day: Hyperion explains certain truths of his life: After all these years, you’d think I’d have a better grasp of how the human mind works. While I know I have improved, your species is still a mystery, wrapped in an enigma, holding a machine gun with a hair trigger.

It's my semi-regular plea for love and adoration. Or a cry into the void for people to read my books. At least, tell your friends and family about them. If nothing else, tell your enemies. Don't they deserve it? I'm an independent author of urban fantasy. See my profile for details and links.

I keep forgetting to post here, primarily because I don't get much (any) feedback. But I'm not going to get any if I don't post. Live is hard. Anyway, Book 3 is about 75% done with Book 4, a collection focusing on Kaylee Tranter is about 66% done. Plus a new unrelated short story coming eventually.

Quote from Hyperion explaining his interpretation of Kaylee and Kevin's fumbling attempts to form a relationship: "It’s like watching a deaf mime trying to communicate with a blind person who only speaks Swahili."

I got a nice review today on Goodreads. I know you're not supposed to look at the reviews, and I have some that prove that point in no uncertain terms. But, it's nice to get a little proof that someone on this weird planet knows the novels exist. Now to finish the novella and get back to Book 3.
