I told you we’d be back

There are big challenges - no doubt. The question I have on the ask for enforcement is, where will people go? & expansion of treatment is much needed, but after, where will people go? When the answer is available is when real positive change will take root. #housing #health #bcpoli #yyj

Low vacancy rates mean bigger rent increases. And vice versa. Bottom line: for more affordability we need to allow more homes. I'm firmly committed to that. More here: davethompsonvictoria.ca/new-homes-va... #urbanism #affordability #housing #yyj

Sidewalking Victoria turns 10 years old today! I am really not sure how all that time has passed. I just want to thank all of you for going along with me on this over the years. #yyj #victoriabc #urbanism www.sidewalkingvicto...

Peak NIMBY brain is trying to keep a neighboring airport open, even though the planes that land there are literally spraying toxins over your home, because if the airport closes then they're going to build affordable housing there. lapublicpress.org/2025/06/sant...

Let’s be clear — the “War on the Car” populist narrative attacking any attempts, however small, to add more CHOICE in how to get around cities, has always been bullshit. But there absolutely should be a “war” on car DEPENDENCY. How can MORE CHOICE, with proven benefits for all, possibly be bad?

this story is just a great illustration of NIMBY nihilism. at core, these people have no vision for anything. they simply oppose change for the sake of opposition. (i also think there is an element of death denial here — if i can prevent all physical changes i can deny the reality of my mortality)

Sloppy reporting. I've followed this issue for years and I've NEVER seen @victoria.ca turn down a supportive housing. I really doubt that @ravikahlon.bsky.social said anything about Victoria dragging out supportive housing proposals. If you're going to make accusations, at least include a link! #yyj

Let’s talk numbers. Much has been debated about the state of Pandora & how many people remain on the block since the report from The Globe and Mail. This @victorianews.bsky.social article shows the differences in #s reported. So who is right? 🧵#yyj #bcpoli #housing www.vicnews.com/local-news/b...
