one of the most insane normalized aspects of our political climate is politicians going after their own constituents in the name of anti-wokeness. what are we doing here

I knew when I saw Andy Harris drop in a “present” with Garbarino and Schweikert taking a walk that we’d be inundated with this take, which is understandable but wrong. They had 4 more votes if they’d needed them. Republicans did this, they made decisions, they don’t deserve to be excused this way

the number of 'takes' there'd be today if Krasner had lost, versus the near-absence of 'discourse' around it, is telling.

RIEDL, on the House Budget: “.. [It] will cost more than the 2017 tax cuts, the pandemic CARES Act, Biden's stimulus, and the Inflation Reduction Act combined.” @yahoofinance.com 🇺🇸

This is literally how the right captured so many young men and it's insane to me that so many on the left to this day refuse to acknowledge and address it!!!

I don’t really do political posts, but thought someone might want to run with this… #ProudBlue #OV1

This was Astle, who sadly passed away about 3 years ago. Named after Jeff Astle the West Brom centre-forward, a hero of mine. He was a great companion for nearly 14 years. I’ve just re-discovered this photo during a tidy up.

Just gets worse. "Law enforcement officials admit that the photo was of another suspect and the entry was removed last month from the Texas database, known as TxGANG, when authorities realized the mix-up. " www.usatoday.com/story/news/p...

Was meant to be out tonight, but I can feel I'm coming down with something so it's takeaway curry instead.

After being hired to promote Georgia’s Medicaid work requirement program, Deloitte Consulting priced reports about its own marketing performance at $300,000 a month. A final report, which was due in February, could cost the state nearly half a million. ➡️ Read the full story: propub.li/3YOiJ66

Been waiting for these results. That’s 36 in a single city. Extrapolating out to the rest of the country is . . . overwhelming. www.thebaltimorebanner.com/community/cr...

This is absolute horror.

#ResistanceRoots Today in history, 1862: Robert Smalls, an enslaved person and ship’s pilot, takes over the CSS Planter, an armed Confederate transport. Smalls steered it past Confederate defenses and surrendered it to the Union Navy, while also freeing himself, his crew and their families. /1

Biden boxed himself in with Harris. I long said so. Then he began to lose his health and no one was around to say no to him. But Harris gave Plouffe the keys and he ran 2012 all over again. He did. He did. Don't let him save his own ass.

Thank you Dr. @alondra.bsky.social.

We managed to make the Tulsa race massacre a well-known component of U.S. history. This should be, too.

JUST IN: Judge Xinis says the DOJ has failed to file a privilege log regarding invocation of the state secrets privilege in Kilmar Abrego Garcia's case. She's giving them until 3pm or will construe it as "intentional refusal" to comply. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

I've known many Afrikaners on Stormfront, and not a single one of them ever claimed in private conversations to be victims of genocide.

The House GOP tax/budget bill shreds the safety net to pay for regressive tax cuts. It may well be the largest transfer of wealth from poor to rich in a single bill, ever. Sounds pretty bad, no? Now consider what else is happening in the US economy right now www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...

Apparently at least one US Attorney is willing to admit in federal court that he does not know where the clitoris is.

The church said it's terminating a decades-long partnership with the federal government to help refugees arriving in the U.S., citing moral opposition to resettling white Afrikaners from South Africa.

You can’t credibly or responsibly just restate what administration officials say about trade deals and then try to cya by saying “officials provided no evidence”.

god it's so good

"whataboutism" is when someone deflects from an important question without answering it. It's not when someone tells a Harpers Free Speech type "Trump's gestapo are snatching students for thought crime in the campus paper - your assessment of who the authoritarians are was *never* correct"

there was a whole media boomlet around this time over “angry white men!”

I visited the public defender office in Jackson in February. Horrifying as this case is, it isn't unusual. PDs say prosecutors routinely withhold discovery, dragging out meritless cases for months or years. When judges finally force their hand, they drop the charges, sometimes the day of trial.

OMG I FIGURED IT OUT UNLIKABLE? SOCIOPATHIC? PETULANT? WHINY? STEPHEN MILLER IS GROWN-UP CAILLOU

Wow. Chris Van Hollen almost single-handedly wrecked Trump's approval ratings on immigration and *this* is Jeffries' response?

No better example of the American press instinct to appease, treating a news interview as a joint performance, that more than anything needs to stay on track, rather than as a way to get closer to the truth.

Far right extremists, inspired by Trump per Whitmer herself, tried to kidnap her. Trump himself later suggested it was a fake plot and mocked it. He called her ‘that woman in Michigan’ and led a crowd that chanted ‘lock her up.’ Today Whitmer hugged him on the tarmac. This is why Dems lose. 🤷🏽‍♂️👇🏽
