The only time I've ever heckled was at Skydome. The umpire totally lost control of the game and the whole stadium went ballistic. I think Aaron Sanchez was pitching and I think he got tossed. Jays were playing the Royals. The best time I've ever had in a crowd, bar none.

How sure is Merlin about differentiating similar species’ songs? Should I believe it when it says that what I would have been sure was a hermit thrush is in fact a veery?

We are going for AC for the very first time this year because my wife is pregnant, and as a result discovered that our 60s house doesn't have a single window that will accommodate the portable unit we inherited from my parents.

REC, a Spanish-language (subtitled) found footage zombie movie. In my dorm room. She was so mad about the movie choice she didn’t want to stay over, but too freaked out to walk across campus alone in the dark, so I just had to accompany her in silence until we parted at her front door.

This is who runs this account. I got bit by an ostrich that day.

I’ve got to get a special pillow for laying underneath trees trying to spot unusual birds in the foliage. Too old for this rock, I fear. Hello American Redstart, though. First one I’ve seen here.

On a stroller website where they call them “pushchairs,” the prices aren’t listed, and the only available colours are “cedar” and “caviar” thinking chucklesimindanger.gif

Tucked exceedingly well away in a climbing hydrangea. Call this an excuse not to mow my back yard until July.

Seated next to a dad and his ~12 year old at a casual restaurant and their topics of conversation were, in order, the infield fly rule, driving a stick shift, and prioritizing your short game when you practice golf. 😭

If Mark Cuban is going to be posting about my day job all day I am going to start day drinking at my day job.

Ok, but how much wood *can* a woodchuck chuck? (We have been very concerted in trying to be hospitable to wildlife, and I’m delighted to see our first ever groundhog, who’s now chomping down on dandelion seed heads.)

Trying to memorize some of the childhood poems and songs we used to hear around the house, and it turns out I cannot get through Wynken, Blynken, and Nod without fully bursting into tears.

Whoa, does Aonishiki have a Kieth Haring piece on the front of his kesho-mawashi? Very cool.

I worry that the emerging Bluesky consensus is "Actually, we shouldn't expect skilled readers to understand Dickens," and I think that's actually worse than anything posited in the study.

Lol, I just noticed that immediately prior to the white smoke the adult seagulls were puking on the roof for the baby to eat.

My LLM take is that the argument that they automate routine or low-level writing tasks is wrong. IME, people do not reach for them when they know what to write – most of those tasks are already and more easily automated by templates or precedents.

Can we now call any embarrassing and unexpected loss by someone who really, desperately deserves it “Poilievre-style?”

Dream journal: we discover that being stabbed deeply by the thorns of a particular cactus grants low-level magical abilities, which some guys I knew in law school are using to stage a musical number for a wedding on a large escalator.

My Gamestop degen arc might actually begin if I could get enough leverage to sell Sarah at 20:1 and make real money.

I remember the first Canadian election of the Twitter era when it was still illegal to report results in areas where the polls were still open and I was surreptitiously DMing a friend in Ontario about the returns back home, feeling very daring indeed.
