Medienethikerin Paganini: Videos in Medien vom Amoklauf in Graz "inakzeptabel" www.derstandard.at/story/300000...

I am struggling to think of a single context in which "could y'all please put a 10-year moratorium on regulating us, please?" does *not* sound like you are absolutely planning to do some vile shit in the next ten years.

I'm just glad one of these men has the nuclear codes and the other has all our personal data.

In all honesty, this Trump-Musk bro-off is the least surprising thing in the world. It’s a wonder that two men with the deep-held believe that they are the only person in the world that matters have managed to hang around each other for as long as they did.

Here's a tricky one. The online far-right absolutely can't remain silent at this moment. Like a shark, they have to keep posting or they'll die. And since they're getting paid to post, all the more so. But they can't risk really offending either party. So how to square the circle... I got it!

Alt-right: "Doping in sports should be legal, athletes have the right to take medication to improve their performance. Freedom!" Also alt-right: "This female boxer looks too much like a man. It's not natural, disqualify her."

One irony of the current LLM hype cycle is that LLMs are a success story of a previous, now defunct, hype cycle: big data.

OMW to Umeå for the PhD defence of Lidia Kidane (www.umu.se/en/staff/lid...). Planning to take the train back as a bit of early summer adventure.

In 2023 a fake AI-generated scientific article was falsely attributed to me. I was not the scheme's only victim. My study, just published in the Research Integrity and Peer Review journal, analyzes what going on and who profited from the mass publication of AI-generated articles. rdcu.be/enQqG

"Every time someone utters the words 'general purpose' what they mean is 'I've optimized for a thing but I don't know what that thing is'." --David Chisnall

If there is one modern word I can't hear anymore, it's "cancel culture". Can we please stop pretending like there was ever a time where you could just say whatever you wanted and people did not react to it (up to and including putting your reputation on blast in whatever media existed)?

Decent take, I think.

Sweden likes to proudly state that it has the “most progressive” sex work legislation in the world. Kind of funny how this progressiveness in practice just full-circles back to MUST.PROTECT.WOMEN.FROM.THEMSELVES thinking. nypost.com/2025/05/20/w...

Are you alright, Quora?

The trick, of course, is to know what's actually inefficient. Too often criticism from newcomers falls into 3 groups: (1) I wish the world was simpler (2) We would be faster if somebody else did some of our work (3) Stuff would be easier if regulations did not apply to us

It is fascinating how little enjoyment I get out of programming Python (as opposed to virtually any other language). Every Python code I write or study looks like a first-semester student puked all over my editor.

How's fascism going for you? medium.com/bits-and-beh...

One more push: I am hiring 1-2 PhD students to research the use of LLMs to augment human-written test suites. Interested? Apply here: www.chalmers.se/en/about-cha... Reach out if you have questions! Applications due May 15! #softwaretesting #softwareengineering #softwaredevelopment #LLM #AI #PHD

Erst vor wenigen Wochen ist Hubert Sickinger 60 geworden, jetzt ist er tot. Ich will es gar nicht glauben… RIP.

While I do not buy into doom and gloom scenarios, I do agree that the need for devs who write standard code to solve well-understood problems will rapidly approach 0 in the next years. As usual, software development as a field will be fine, but not every individual developer will be.

Just finished Clair Obscur - Expedition 33. That game is a fucking masterpiece. Mind blown.

"I am hiring 1-2 PhD students at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden to explore the use of LLMs to augment human-written software test suites. This is a five-year position, fully funded by the Wallenberg Autonomous Systems, AI, and Software Program (WASP)." Gregory Gay

This has to be the most incompetent coup ever.

I will never understand why so many people on social media (particularly Instagram and TikTok) click on obvious rage bait, understand it is rage bait, and then still decide to engage anyway. Like, how? Why?

Yesterday, one of my undergrad students repeatedly referred to email as "sending a message in Outlook". I'm dying inside.

I truly hope AOC has good security. I see a real danger of some Navalny-style "accident" in her future.

I'm seeking 1-2 Ph.D. students, who will conduct research on how LLMs can extend and augment the software tests created by humans. Please apply, share, and get in touch if you have questions! Apply at: www.chalmers.se/en/about-cha...

Remember the leaks from around election time, where Trump was discussing how he intends to (purposefully) cause a significant recession? Just like last time, Trump is doing exactly what he announced he would do, and everybody including Fox News is *shockedpikachu*.
