The total lack of criticism, or anything remotely resembling it is surely a ploy to butter-up the uk public for joining in illegal wars. This is NOT what the uk should stand up with. I sincerely hope we show solidarity with Europe, diplomacy and law.

Netanyahu , supported by trump are clearly candidates for the next Nobel war prize.

Trump’s attacks on Iran are another hugely dangerous escalation. Unjustified, illegal, provocative; they make the world less safe, not more. The UK must condemn these attacks and make clear it will provide no support.

Going to be hot day and sunny so suntan lotion deployed earlier. Of course now my eyes are stinging. Happens every time

So many challenges to cooling in deep tube lines (old, clay, space).. but for drivers it must be hell. that really needs addressing - there’s some but seriously how can you work. (even if it makes passengers hotter). www.bbc.com/news/article...

I do rather love getting out for a walk at the weekend, but the sweet spot is definitely 10-21 C. With tomorrow being 28C (brighton) maybe not so much. It’s better when you can hop from one aircon place to another. not so much in uk unless it’s a supermarket hop. Not so good for town/beach.

After sitting on this film for months, the BBC finally announce they won't broadcast it after its Director says Israel is committing war crimes and ethnic cleansing in Gaza (they are). BBC says this isn't impartial because "Israel has denied accusations of war crimes" www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

"I 𝙘𝙖𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙩 see an analysis where Britain getting involved would be in our national interest." The PM called a COBRA meeting as Trump teased joining Israel's war on Iran. @maitlis.bsky.social & @lewisgoodall.com ask: If Trump asked for UK support - could Starmer say no to him?

It would be wrong and crazy. We should not let ourselves get dragged into this war. There's one state with plenty to answer for, but another disregarding any international law norms in too many instances

Truly awesome to have made it onto Computer Weekly's shortlist of influential people in UK tech. What a powerful list! So many brilliant names. Please cast your votes... (ahem: its alphabetical so zsk is last!) www.computerweekly.com/news/3666260...

Aftyer a failed (1yr!) ssd in a cheap n100 based miniPC (Firebat T8 Pro) I decided to go for a decent nvme replacement - Tracscend 410S nvme. It's quite a little beast, and way beyond the capabilities of the host. Cost was about 30% more than a very cheap unit. us.transcend-info.com/product/inte...

Whether it's Ukraine or Russia, Israel or Gaza, Iran, Sudan, Congo, Myanmar or other places - it's so sad to see the ravages of war where normal people suffer so much :-( Surely world we can do better.

#WhatsApp adding adverts isn't a surprise. If anything it's that they won't (yet) add adds into the private chat stream (unlike gmail). I've been on telegram/signal for years but number of friends/family who will use. near 0. I predict little/no change.

Oh Norris/mclaren :-( #f1 nice from George and Antonella

@surf noticed two more issues on ios a) If a video is playing in timeline and it scrolls a long way out of view, it still plays. should stop b) In post contains a link, that is clicked (opened in browser) there;’s then no share sheet options (ie to open in browser, or save in instapaper etc)

This week a question from @rachaelmaskell.bsky.social revealed that the UK is training Israeli soldiers - making us actively complicit in the Israeli government's genocide in Gaza. I've asked the Defence Secretary if he'll put a stop to this - there is no excuse for letting this go on.

Israel is acting like a pariah state Carrying out assassinations on foreign soil and bombing neighbouring countries Operating with impunity and completely ignoring international law The sanctions against the extremist ministers are a start but we must go much further to isolate Israel

a side note: this is as frontal an assault on the US by Israel as I've ever seen, and there have been some bad ones. This is Israel blowing up the planned negotiations in Oman tomorrow between the Trump envoy and Iran. This is Netanyahu saying the US can't do diplomacy he doesn't sign off on.

So sad to hear about the India-London flight. Thinking of all those affected www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/c8...

@surf.social iOS. Share a page from bbc news (url?). Whilst blue sky and mastodon apps are listed, surf is not. Incomplete intents?

If Brexity folks start crying crocodile tears about the people of Gibraltar, note that a) the Gibraltar first minister supports this deal b) Brexity people sure as hell didn't care how Gibraltar voted in the 2016 Brexit referendum

Woke up to find one of my miniPCs (used as a lightweight desktop - it was doing a backup of onedrive at the time) has a failed SSD. Cheap unit, came with cheap drive. Now time to look for a value for money 512GB m.2 nvme....

@surf.social when reading a timeline occasionally I might accidentally return back home. My place in the timeline odd then totally lost. Awkward when catching up after a day at work. Some persistence would be useful

Any recommendations for web-based social media aggregators (ie #bluesky #mastodon Trying out both #surfsocial and #openvibe on phone/tablet, but pc browsing still needs both Still unsure how to handle. content is quite different and both valuable. Probably, as usual, just follow-trimming

Interesting application -- planning is a massive drag on development - needs reform, but there also do need to be some checks. Meanwhile this looks very pragmatic #uk #ai

Interesting addition to macOS - promises a lighter weight vm. Will be interesting to see if it impacts podman etc

This might be the biggest announcement in quantum computing ever. IBM has the path to real quantum advantage and fault-tolerant quantum computing before the end of this decade www.ibm.com/quantum/blog...

Last year’s #appleintelligence was a bit damp squib. Summaries in notifications were nice. Little else

Time to listen to Apple and see what is in store

And we need to welcome them - some of the applicants are under threat and our universities need the cash. I do though agree this has to come with standards

Jeremy Bowen's long, measured, objective, but ultimately entirely clear and conclusive essay on Israeli war crimes. As Jonathan Sumption puts it: "These things make genocide the most plausible explanation for what is now happening." www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Beautiful walk around Climping and Elmer (near Arundel) seafront and village today. Lovely weather, so nice to get more sea air, and be away from house/indoors! 18.5 steps so not super high but a nice afternoon walk! Now time for british sausage, carrots, cabbage and mash. yum!
