This is opening of an Octavia Butler novel

He’s already demolished everything in sight, but I’d still be happy to see him go. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Tonight in Art Therapy with the Plucky Shrimp, we are speaking on behalf of the ocean, and are VERY mad, not only at the evil guys in charge but also at every evil person who enables the evil guys in charge. Every last one. May they know no peace for the rest of their miserable lives.

Yay!! A federal judge in California sided with a coalition of unions, temporarily barring the Office of Personnel Management from ordering federal agencies to terminate probationary workers, stating that the firings were ‘illegal, should be stopped, and rescinded.’

Call to Action: The Merit Systems Protection Board, an independent federal agency that safeguards federal employees in employment disputes, has paused the terminations of six probationary federal workers across various executive branch agencies and departments for 45 days.

I'm a researcher funded by NSF. The indirect funds that are being slashed to 15% at NIH, and probably NSF soon, are not some kind of markup or profit. These pay for essential things like rent for a building to work in, lab space, salaries of people who manage benefits for the organization... 1/

To anyone who has ever thought “If I had a Time Machine, I’d go back and stop H!+ler,” now is your moment.

The most common question I receive is how everyday citizens can help in the fight for democracy. My advice, take the first step, start with something small and see what works for you. Here are ten things all of us can do. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/10-t...

Crazy cakes for current times 🍰

NIH supports boatloads of scientists at your state universities. Call your representatives to protect the funding of critical science in health and biomedicine.
