Of late the knives are long in the United States. In two separate events, two democratic senators have been shot in Minnesota, where the Democrats hold a majority of only one vote. This is a clear coup being carried out, both slower and quicker than feared.

When people say "the middle class" is what makes a society great, they aren't telling you the whole story. Imagine wealth as a spectrum, poor people on one side, rich folks on the other. We want a big ol' middle class in the middle. Many, many people who are neither rich nor poor.
