From our colleague, reporter Dan Boguslaw: take a look at the bio of the suspect in the Minnesota killings — at his security company, "Praetorian Guard Security Services"

So this week we’ve had a man impersonating an ICE agent tie up a woman and steal $1000; a man impersonating a police officer assassinate a top Democratic politician & her husband (and shoot another Democrat & his wife); and a man impersonating a king hold a military parade for his birthday

What if news reports about the US sounded more like Western media coverage of African, Middle Eastern, and Latin American countries? Read @premthakker.bsky.social's latest column: zeteo.com/p/trump-amer...

“US Regime Deploys Troops, Arrests Citizens, and Detains Opposition Amid Mass Pro-Democracy Protests” What if we wrote about events in Trump’s America in the way that Western media describe African and Middle Eastern countries? Brilliant stuff, from @premthakker.bsky.social

NEW: A Biden-appointed judge sided with the Trump admin's last-minute argument to *DENY* Mahmoud Khalil's release. Trump admin argued he could be detained for a frivolous charge they gave him *after* his arrest. The judge agreed. Khalil will spend his first Father's Day away from his newborn boy.

This is very well-written.

BREAKING: Judge sides with the Trump administration's argument — DENIES Mahmoud Khalil release from ICE detention. Story to come @zeteo.com

NOTE: This does not mean the Court won't order Mahmoud Khalil to be released. The government itself says here that if the Court does order him freed, they ask it to stay such an order pending appeal—or to delay another week so they can seek a stay from the Third Circuit court.

UPDATE — Minutes before their deadline, the government responds, now says it does *NOT* plan to release Mahmoud Khalil, arguing the judge's Wednesday order left room for them to keep him detained for reasons other than Rubio's faulty "foreign policy" justification.

“What if we wrote about events in Trump’s America in the way that Western media describe African and Middle Eastern countries?” Compelling read, Prem. Your article is chilling. And accurate.

Wrote a dispatch from the US — inspired by how the Western media often covers African, Middle Eastern, and Latin American countries. Read: US Regime Deploys Troops, Arrests Citizens, and Detains Opposition Amid Mass Pro-Democracy Protests

UPDATE — Court gives the government until 1:30 to respond to Mahmoud Khalil’s legal team. “The deadline has come and gone and Mahmoud Khalil must be released immediately,” his lawyers say in statement. “Anything further is an attempt to prolong his unconstitutional, arbitrary, and cruel detention.”

UPDATE — A federal judge ruled Wednesday that the government had until 9:30AM today (30 minutes ago) to appeal Mahmoud Khalil’s possible release. They *did not* do so. His legal team has just asked the court to accordingly order his release.

New @zeteo.com — US Regime Deploys Troops, Arrests Citizens, and Detains Opposition Amid Mass Pro-Democracy Protests What if we wrote about events in Trump’s America how Western media describes African and Middle Eastern countries?

They’re beating you down to let them use your hard-earned taxes to arrest your neighbors & fund endless war overseas. They want to divide you and then stuff their pockets while you’re busy fighting each other. And if you dare try to interrupt it—to see your neighbor as you—they’ll go after you next

Well if the US gets pulled into this, hopefully they’re not short about 50 tanks this weekend

Bibi Netanyahu, in 2002, urging the US to invade Iraq: "If you take out Saddam, Saddam's regime, I guarantee you that it will have enormous positive reverberations on the region." The US listened then, and we saw what happened. 23 years later, here we are.

Wild story: a quality manager who warned about the shoddy construction of Boeing 787 Dreamliner planes was particularly concerned about the ones sent to Air India in 2014. That's when the Air India jet that crashed today was sent. prospect.org/economy/2025...

We are marching to Senator Thune’s office. There must be accountability for the detainment of a Senator. This is not normal.

They’re beating you down to let them use your hard-earned taxes to arrest your neighbors & fund endless war overseas. They want to divide you and then stuff their pockets while you’re busy fighting each other. And if you dare try to interrupt it—to see your neighbor as you—they’ll go after you next

They disappear your neighbors, they attack you if you protest that, and they handcuff Senators who question them on it all

If they can do this to a US senator, what will they do to you?

EXCLUSIVE: American Security Contractor Unloads On US-Israeli ‘Gaza Humanitarian Foundation’

"We fell back, letting people get the aid. They were never aggressive towards us. They were only trying to get aid – aid, by the way, that consisted of flour, rice, lentils, tea bags, and noodles; things that need water. They don’t have any water. And we’re not giving out water."

Feels fitting for Trump's worst poll numbers to come the same day as Zohran's best poll numbers, the same day a judge rules Trump cannot keep detaining Mahmoud Khalil in this way, all while tens of thousands of people nationwide are taking to the streets to defend their neighbors

And there you go

NEW—A US contractor with inside look at the “Gaza Humanitarian Foundation.” Some contractors never deployed before—or are ex-cops. None are confirmed as trained for the guns they were given. They saw the IDF targeting Palestinians. “This idea that the Israeli military isn't involved is bullshit.”

The Center for Constitutional Rights warns the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation that continuing operations will expose it to "liability for aiding and abetting and otherwise being complicit in war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide in violation of international law and U.S. law."

As you see officers brutalizing pregnant citizens and detaining high school volleyball players and shooting at international journalists — remember these 58 Democrats who voted with Republicans for the Laken Riley Act, enabling Trump's ICE and empowering it to detain people without any due process

When you look at Trump's cratering immigration numbers, remember what Zohran Mamdani was already doing three months ago — while the rest of the Democratic party was still twiddling their thumbs on detaining student protestors and giving ICE more power:

Trump has tanked even while Democrats have tried to be too cute on him kidnapping student protestors and mass detaining immigrants. Imagine what his numbers would be like if Democrats coalesced on a single, convicted message (which is to say, acted like an organized opposition?)

New Quinnipiac poll shows "all-time low" sympathies for the Israelis and "all-time high" sympathies for Palestinians since the poll began asking about "the situation" 24 years ago:

Trump approval, Quinnipiac: January 46-43 February 45-49 March 42-53 April 41-53 Today 38-54

ICE and its congressional backers (in both parties) should really consider the optics of arresting and brutalizing a 9-month pregnant woman, kidnapping high school students, and attacking journalists. Such radical violence is out of touch with everyday Americans and isn't helping your cause.
