When everything you have is a hammer, use the hammer 😂 SELECT DATE_DIFF(DATE '2025-08-25', CURRENT_DATE(), DAY) AS days_left;

It is infuriating - yes - how bad the Play Store app is at showing a bug free UI with an increased font size. And no, "Mehr als" doesn't take more space than "More than". And if it's "Over" in English, use "Über" in German, for god's sake

The question is not "if you can see my screen" but if I can see my screen? 🤪

#DidYouKnow that #Android16 is phasing out manifest attributes and runtime APIs used to restrict an app's orientation and resizability, starting with large screen devices likes tablets and foldables? Please, help make your apps adaptive: android-developers.googleblog.com/2025/01/orie...

The web seems to have more package installers than frameworks! And we all know how many frameworks they have 🤣

Want to talk all the GraphQL things? The London GraphQL meetup is looking for speakers!

Did you know there is a Unicode character to reverse the writing direction? Can lead to interesting attacks like: "file[U+202e]fdp.exe shown as fileexe.pdf" trojansource.codes/trojan-sourc...

Ukraine might have just saved Europe. Send more weapons, all weapons to Ukraine. They know how to use them efficiently. Every russian plane destroyed is one less bombing Europeans. Every russian soldier liquidated is one pair of boots less crossing our borders to kill our children. Thank you 🇺🇦!

Google: make your Large Screen Android app available for Chromebooks. Developers: We use Custom Tab and Trusted Web Activity for Login Google: Ah, never mind then! "Chrome"books don't do well with web-based logins, kinda funny 😂

Happy 12th birthday React Curious to see what your teenage years will be like

Wow. Tesla sales in Europe halved. I’ve never seen such a self inflicted wound to a brand.

Moved to the summer office 🤪

It's good to reinvent the wheel sometimes! endler.dev/2025/reinven... Great post by Matthias Endler. It helps understanding how wheels work, how you can fix them when broken, how to make better wheels if really needed, or how to find creative use cases for wheels by thinking outside the box.

Turns out that @kotlinconf.com 2026 will be in Munich!

Very cool to hear at the #KotlinConf closing panel today that a KMP version of the Firebase library is being worked on this summer (as part of Google Summer of Code program)!

Backend development seems all about trial and error in terraform and other configuration files, at least you spent most time trial and error there 🙈

Fairlight Children finally on Vinyl 🥰

HUGE news 5 years, Epic spending ~$100M on lawyer fees... and the court ruled that Apple cannot block Fortnite just because it uses web payments where Apple cannot take a 30% cut! (I's not Apple's infra, and Apple has nothing to do with it!) Now other apps will follow. Massive

Always good to see the @soundcloud.dev logo on a Google IO slide. Here, dev keynote from yesterday! 🥳

This Stitch announcement from Google IO might have some UI designers feeling nervous about their careers. If most of your design work involves app layouts that look like they came out of a widely used component library, you should be nervous.

Here's a sneak peek at the upgrade agent, just demoed by @florinam.bsky.social in the Google I/O developer keynote! www.youtube.com/watch?v=ubyP...

Watching Google IO developer keynote from the couch. So many Android updates from @florinam.bsky.social

Both Microsoft and GitHub announced support for a coding agent that you can assign a pull request and it goes off and sorts it (or at least tries). Microsoft: this is within Copilot. Google: called Jules (uses GitHub) Feels like Big Tech eating coding startups’ lunch already.

Fomo for Google IO 🥺

Microsoft said its recent layoffs impacting 6,000 employees (3% of staff) was due to flattening hierarchies by removing layers of managers. However data provided to the state of Washington shows most of those impacted were individual contributors. The company’s words and actions aren’t matching up.

Mind-blowing how time flies. Only two weeks left to apply for @droidcon.bsky.social Lisbon. If you, like me, have not already done so, get your act together and apply now 🎉🥳🔥 sessionize.com/droidcon-lis...

Indeed, a gigantic "BUY" button will always perform better Doesn't mean it's good design

This! Material 1 was amazing. But in 2 they gave up the main ide of shadows. Both were telling designers to express brand only through colors now! Then they wanted to take away the color too. Now 360° 🙈 Designers will keep ignoring it: Material always was and is nothing but Googles design language

I don’t know what Microsoft does in 2025, but: 1. Nontechnical family members using Windows are riddled with malware - websites hijacking’s their Edge defaults, notifications, tricking them to installing all sorts garbage 2. Those using Apple products have NONE of this

Anytime you have imposter syndrome, remember you make better decisions than the head of Warner Bros Discovery who among other things took 2 years to realize renaming HBO Max to Max was a dumb idea.

New blog post! In this post I explain some of the techniques used to eliminate unnecessary array bounds checks when writing Kotlin code. www.romainguy.dev/posts/2025/e...

Welcome to big tech in 2025 where it’s always layoff season. These cuts aren’t performance based as those happened in January. This round is to reduce layers of management. Next quarter, it’ll probably be because of tariffs.
