I honestly don't know. Are these people in more dire straits than people from the south of the U.S.? Could someone who knows give an unbiased reason why this is a joyful welcome and others do not receive that privilege?

A new post...

More shameful than the administration's appropriation of Christianity are the many Christians, especially our leaders, who've so thoroughly bought the lie.

“The great problem with dominant white theologians, especially white men, is their tendency to speak as if they and they alone can set the rules for thinking about God.” James Cone, God of the Oppressed

Life as Sacrament. It is a special key to unlock the door to wonder! “The body is a sacrament. The old, traditional definition of sacrament captures this beautifully. A sacrament is a visible sign of invisible grace.” John O’Donohue, Anam Cara

A new installation of my book, A Church for the World. I'd love it if you'd give it a look.

I saw this headline this morning: "Despite market tumult, Trump says ‘we’re making a fortune with tariffs’" Question: Who is included in the word "we're?" I feel significantly excluded, as does my portfolio. 🙄

Economist Paul Krugman made a quip on the Ezra Klein Podcast regarding recent U.S. global Tariffs: “In the movie ‘Terminator 7,’ it would be: Actually, Skynet doesn’t bother starting a nuclear war — it just gives bad tariff advice.”

Prepping for Easter! “Human beings are hope-shaped creatures. The way you live now is completely controlled by what you believe about your future.” Timothy Keller

Mini-rant: NIL has killed Cinderella.

Here is the 2nd section of a long-form (serialized book) I have been doing over on my Substack. Follow along! #Churchculture #achurchfortheworld

"WITCH HUNT" - every time I hear it now (from anyone) it's a signal. I just know you're deflecting, refusing to deal seriously with a moral failure in your life, or administration.

Are you willing to stand out?

"I hold almost all of it loosely in my hand now, all of it but this: the nature, identity, soul, action, and character of God is love–lovelovelovelovelovelovelove. Everything was resurrected on that truth." Sarah Bessey, Jesus Feminist

This made me laugh after last night's Gonzaga v. Georgia game: Ernie Johnson, whose alma mater is Georgia: "Since 2003, Georgia with zero wins in the (NCAA) Tournament, Gonzaga with 39 wins..." Charles Barkley: "Maybe ya'll can play them in football and we can get this thing handled."

“Pain makes theologians of us all.” Barbara Brown Taylor

Some thoughts on the growing billionaire demographic.

This is hard for most Christian people to get their heads around. "...no one enters into a process of interpretation from a “neutral” location." Liberating Scripture, An Invitation to Missional Hermeneutics

How the heck did Canada, our friendliest ally, become the enemy? What is going on? Perhaps we are looking in the wrong direction.

Dang, that Biden for ruining our economy.

Another section of my book, "A Church for the World." Though this one is partially behind the paywall, you can check out a part of it to get a taste of where I am going. I hope you do. Also, my Substack has a ton of non-paywall content. I invite you to look around and give some feedback.

I have heard this over and over about the Federal government: DOGE is working to identify and eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse. Who is keeping DOGE from waste, fraud, and abuse? Where is the accountability?

I take no joy in saying this, and I hope I am wrong. However, I can tell you that my portfolio was almost always trending up and to the right under Biden, but it has experienced a traumatic roller coaster ride, going down instead under Trump. That is the truth. The stock market has vertigo now.

I am all in on the Economic Blackout.

Only if you wanna keep up with what I am doing, listening to, and reading.

This is the first installment of my book, A Church for the World. Please take a look and join me in the journey.

From my friend Drew Hyun’s new book, Beautiful, Disappointing, Hopeful: “Whether you believe in God or not, you were simply affirming what Christians have always believed—life is a beautiful gift from God."
