Deeply respect Lander for spending the final days of the campaign going completely kamikaze on stopping Cuomo

This is why, when it comes to politics, cultural studies and political psychology are basically the whole ballgame. We have a huge number of people who are socially and emotionally incapable of being comfortable in a free and open society and we can't solve that by capitulating to their comforts.

American elites are like "Well, the president is a dictator, and also clinically insane. I don't like that. But on the other hand, he is killing a lot of people, and you have to give him credit for that."

Hello fellow elder millennials.

As a friend of mine said, Hillary has the opportunity to do the funniest thing of all time here

it’s still shocking how many credulous babies there are out there. this “ah, maybe we don’t need reading anyway” stuff is so embarrassing

I understand that all that people think they need moderates in elected office to make Democrats more popular, but the "literally any moderate even a disgraced sex pest who is an irredeemably bad administrator" line feels poorly thought through

“Papa Leone left a note on the door saying ‘Sonny, move out to the country.’”

this is not the most important objection to Cuomo but its an accurate one. The reason he wants to be NYC Mayor is fundamentally "it was an important office that opened up at an opportune time for him to attempt a comeback" and hes a very special boy so his allies rolled out the red carpet for him

the destruction of chattel slavery is one of the great accomplishments in our nation's history and the reason conservatives hate celebrating it is because doing so legitimizes the black counter-narrative of the united states

The subway is not scary. Literal children ride it millions of times every day. Fascists and bigots lie about it constantly and have for years because they’re trying to destroy NYC and our subway, and most things wrong with the subway can be traced to their attacks resulting in its underfunding.

The regime-change lunatics are back. Collapsing the Iranian regime is a really, really bad idea. I outline why in the essay below, drawing deeply on Iranian history. Please share widely if you can. We can't go down this road again. Not to mention they lives at stake. unherd.com/2025/06/the-...

It’s a slow pitch at the letters: “Brad Lander is our neighbor. He was looking out for his neighbors. And he was arrested for that. When I rushed to help I was heartened to find most of my opponents there. Men and women who care for the City of New York. But Andrew Cuomo? Where was he?”

i just find this so bizarre. searching through texts and doing the reading for myself is how i actually think through ideas! trying to put together a sentence is how i figure out what i actually want to say!

Also, free direct mail idea for all Dem candidates who aren’t Cuomo: I saw an interview somewhere where Cuomo said “Trump knows New York” or something to that effect. That should be a mail piece and pretty much the only text — like a meme.

Other things that happened coincident with the sexual revolution: greater awareness/honesty of parents and minors about sex/abuse, lay empowerment in the Church, questioning if institutions resulting from Watergate etc.
