Reflecting on AI- just because we can - does it mean we should? Will the new world of AI make life better & happier for most people? Or is it leading to job losses & economic hardship, social isolation plus the loss of what it means to be human- creative, innovative and flawed.

Immigration again being demonised as the underlying problem of Britain today. What about all the benefits that immigration brings? Immigrants support the NHS, social care, higher education, agriculture & so many other industries. Inequality is the heart of the problem.

Good news at last: just a little exercise can reduce the risk of dementia | Devi Sridhar

My latest column on exercise, mixing up my academic & personal trainer background www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

One of the early reviews of my book says that the writing is 'too simplistic'. I write how I speak & think- and maybe the way I express myself is in simple language, but it's the way I process and translate (for myself) a complex world of ideas and data. www.penguin.co.uk/books/458539...

New column on dementia www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Grateful for the endorsements by early readers like Dr. Chris of my new book- more info here: www.penguin.co.uk/books/458539...

My latest column on drug-resistant pathogens & where the solutions lie www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

The biggest modern con is politicians convincing people that their lives are harder because of immigrants. Instead of the increasing number of billionaires & wealth concentration at the top. Politics too often about protecting the billionaires instead of normal people.

No exodus to state sector after VAT added to private school fees, say English councils www.theguardian.com/education/20...

Trump’s pick for health secretary has many dangerous views – but some good ideas, too | Devi Sridhar

Egg prices are directly linked to avian flu- H5N1- spreading on poultry farms with high lethality in chickens. If you want cheaper eggs, then deal with the disease. That requires science, public health & vet experts.

After building a career pushing anti-vax views, Robert Kennedy said today (at his confirmation hearings) that all **his kids are vaccinated**. Don’t look at what he says (anti-vax is a lucrative position)- look at what he does.

Devi Sridhar, author and professor of global health at the University of Edinburgh, discusses the implications of US President Donald Trump pulling out of the World Health Organization.

Egg prices in the States- which became such an issue during the election- continue to rise because of *bird flu*- it’s killing off chickens & spreading on poultry farms. If you want cheaper eggs, then deal with avian flu first.
