"Once a constitutional crisis becomes an endemic condition, the term no longer usefully describes our collapsing system. Instead, we live in an era of constitutional failure when the relevant institutions cannot fulfill their responsibilities."

"I asked Weber how she would describe Zohranomics. As municipal socialism, perhaps? Or municipal Rooseveltism? “I’m not sure we need to search for ‘isms’ here,” she replied. “If anything, it is a very effective form of antifascist economic policy.""

Warnock: "We are engaged in Robin Hood in reverse ... this is socialism for the rich."

Absolutely incredible turnout for Budapest Pride! So proud of all the organizers, including some old friends, who estimate hundreds of thousands— major embarrassment to Orban

This week a Republican congressman called for the denaturalization of a Democratic elected official, invoking a key mechanism through which the Holocaust was perpetrated. In response, Democratic Party leaders have rushed to cable news to declare that the Republicans have a point about that guy.

"Politically likely" is the key here, I think. Previously, the logistical possibility was thwarted, in part, by a long-standing societal taboo against the level of funding required to create the infrastructure for effective internal terror. Not anymore.

Every time the mayoral candidate in NYC isn't a republican or grossly corrupt, all the usual suspects threaten to leave. Yawn.

Excellent piece.

NOTE TO SELF: Next time google “what does this political party believe” before giving them $277 million

“We do not find any evidence that rural Britons are more resentful, dissatisfied or ‘left behind’ compared to their urban counterparts.” On cultural issues, it found, “ruralites are often less – not more – authoritarian than urbanites … and are less likely to support an undemocratic leader”.

Zuckerberg “The average person has 3 friends, and Facebook is working to get that lower”

The brazenness of the policy shows how Israel and the US have now entered a new phase of defiance.

I’m calling it: A 50% tariff on Sweden the day after the Nobel is announced and it ain’t him.

The crashing out is insane! There's this bizarre, twisted version of a moral panic. The panic is directed at Mamdani precisely because his platform is moral. And also all about the racism. And about money. As in, money doesn't actually ensure results.

I feel so much safer now. Imagine what a danger to the public these individuals would be if the cops hadn't cuffed them!

Genius!

Yes! And this is exactly the sentiment that put Mamdani in front of Cuomo.

Why Mamdani-Cuomo in NYC is huge. A Dem gerontocracy is spending millions on consultants to find a "Joe Rogan of the left," but when a real-life candidate energizes Gen Z, party elites try to crush him The future is bleak for Dems if creepy Cuomo wins. My new column www.inquirer.com/columnists/a...

Andrew Cuomo was the US Secretary of Housing and is now running for mayor, where one of the largest agencies they manage is NYC's Housing Authority. And yet Cuomo literally had ChatGPT write his campaign housing policy. This is who the media and establishment want you to think is "serious"

On Friday night, we walked the length of Manhattan, from Inwood Hill to Battery Park. New Yorkers deserve a Mayor they can see, hear, even yell at. The city is in the streets.

[slaps roof of gyre] You won’t believe how far this baby can widen.

Genius!

Clearly, it's because Kamala et al were just being 'hysterical' suggesting that such an eventuality was even worth thinking about, let alone passing legislation against.

It’s so disappointing when people don’t surprise you.

All the coming horrors were avoidable.

This is the 21st C equivalent of 19th C European colonial wars. They were treated like exciting adventure stories in Britain, France, etc., fueled by jingoism and Christian righteousness. They also distracted from domestic strife. This isn’t just the 2003 playbook - it’s the 1884 playbook.

I’m getting really bored with the *surprise* and *outrage* at the inadequate recognition of just how far the US has descended. Media insiders, academic admins, finance folk have all hitched their wagon to the US system. Stop looking to them for any kind of accurate read on whether it’s collapsing!

Who knows if it's even ICE? Could be a pedophile ring. Could be a terrorist cell. Could be bank robbers. Point is - it's now a lawless nation where you can do what you want as long as you cover your face and dress in wannabe combat gear.
