This. The antithetical realities in LA are somehow surreal, frightening, absurd, banal, urgent, and exhausting all at the same time. You never know if a text is “I knit a new sweater” or “They are deploying tear gas outside my building.” It’s a floaty, liminal space. The air feels heavy.
