How do we screen do novo designed binders most efficiently? In this pre-print, we show that the microfluidic sizing technique FIDA allows us to pick successful binders in a single measurement using minimal sample: www.biorxiv.org/cgi/content/...

Baby fox in the garden!

Trigger warning: FOMO How often do you go to a conference where you are excited about EVERY SINGLE TALK! Well, I guess it helps if you get to make the program. 😀 "Biomolecular condensates: From fundamental principles to applications in health and biotech" kicking off at 9 AM!

Probably the best conference venue in Denmark? Tomorrow, we kick-off our condensate meeting in the Carlsberg Academy ⬇️. Thank you to the Novo Nordisk Foundation for the grant to host our dream meeting, and to the Carlsberg Foundation for hosting us at this beautiful site.

We have a new review/perspective on the potential of biomolecular condensates in microbial cell factories. The emphasis is on the trade-offs that have to be navigated when designing such synthetic organelles.

Since the Trump team are making videos about US-Greenland history, maybe the next one could be about that time when USAF crashed a B-52 spilling four nuclear bombs - one of which his probably never been recovered: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/1968_Th...

IDPSeminars is back this week (Tomorrow, March 6th)! Come hear about nucleolar organization and IDRs in host-pathogen interactions! PST 10 am EST 1 pm CET 7 pm! Info: idpseminars.com Signup form: forms.gle/3yCHeYvuuqLh...

Authoritarianism runs strong in this family. It is an utter disgrace. The world order has changed. The US is no longer the leader of the free world. The key question going forward: Who is? Which side of history do our politicians choose - and who will lead?

The United States is giving up strong alliances, prosperous trade relationships, checks and balances, the rule of law and democratically-accountable government in order to become the Belarus of North America. Welcome to the American Oblast of the Russian Federation.

Congrats to Alain for napping a Marie Curie postdoc fellowship to work on condensates! 2nd Curie fellowship for the lab after @mcd611.bsky.social got one last year! Who will be number 3? 😏

Impressive outreach setup at Aarhus Uni’s “Ole Rømer Observatory”. A shame that it is always clouded here though 😅☁️

The Danish Villum Foundation seems to be concerned about the cost of writing unsuccesful grants and are experimenting with their call to solve this. Examples: * Pre-application lottery for who gets to apply * Institutions are only allowed to apply in alternating years

What is the most rigorous way to determine the cloud point of a phase separating system from scattering data (as the attached)? We had a long discussion about this at group meeting yesterday without reaching a clear conclusion?

Reminder that if disordered proteins are your thing, this starter pack exists (and I try to update it as best I can as new folks reach out/I see them!) 🍝 go.bsky.app/J23B51L

Suggestions needed! I am developing the "Expression and purification" part of a protein science course (final year bachelors degree) and I need to find a concise text on how to produce an uncharacterized protein. I.e. not how columns work, but choosing the right strategy (organism, tags, etc.)
