At my kid’s school they’ve ripped out the crumbling pavement and concrete in the front and replaced it with grass and trees! 🥰 This is the first half - the second half is being done now behind the construction fence in the background.

After eight hours in the slow-cooker my Jambalaya is almost ready. While the rice was cooking I prepared the shrimp and added them to the mix. End result (served over rice) was hot, thick, and delicious! 😋

There, you can make this chicken dipping sauce whenver you want and stop getting takeout at that damn place. Further more: I recommend to use any "hickory" flavored bottled bbq sauce and if you want to make it a spicy varient use 1 - 3 teaspoons of cayenne powder depending on taste.

The forecast called for a hot day today, and I WAS working up a sweat taking care of the horses this morning. There’s plenty of lush grass for the wild deer to eat, but I worry about access to water - so I set up this little wading pool with a solar-powered fountain to keep the water moving.

The deer in the garden started following one of the barn-cats back towards the barn! I was a good distance away using the zoom lens, but the deer still didn’t want to get too close.

Here’s another deer tale - at least this one isn’t in my truck’s grill! This deer is at the far end of the garden - the drag harrows are much closer to the near end, creating the illusion that they’re much larger than they really are. The telephoto lens in the iPhone 16 Pro is pretty impressive. 😊

After just shy of 17 years on the farm - driving to and from town daily (plus many other trips) I struck my first deer today. I hit her broadside - dead centre at nearly full highway speed. There was no chance to avoid her - she leapt out directly in front of me. At least she didn’t suffer. 😔

Sigh…. As of yesterday (May 21, 2025) it has been FOUR MONTHS since my GP sent in a referral to the endocrinologist. I was told that there was a 1-3 month waiting list, but I had hoped it would be closer to 1. I’m thinking I should call the clinic and make sure they actually got the referral.
