I want to say something to my Jewish community on this: The US government is rounding people up based on their skin color, and many of the old guard Jewish organizations that have been most vocal about feelings of abandonment from other ethnic minority groups are nowhere to be found. Total silence.

This is where conservatism ultimately leads

Look at this extraordinary man

#LongBeachCA turns out for the #NoKings march!

Does *anyone* have any guidance on this? Or is it a stupid question? Not trying to do any harm here.

Question regarding upcoming protests: The wisdom has always been “Leave your ID at home.” But with people being scooped up off the streets *and reportedly deported the same night*, does it make sense for people (especially POC) to make certain that they carry legal ID as proof of residence?

Seems relevant.

Also cannot be emphasized enough: Barack Obama successfully negotiated the shutdown of Iran's nuclear program. It exists today because Trump deliberately tore up that agreement. The deaths happening right now can be laid at his door.

This is an assault on a United States Senator by a reckless, lawless Administration with no respect for the Constitution. We will not be silent. We will not be intimidated. We stand with Senator Padilla.

shoutout to every idiot who believed that trump would "end the wars"

Sen. Collins is officially “Disturbed” by the Padilla incident.

The workers who feed us are not criminals. Most have been here for decades. We need to protect the workers who are already here from being hunted down in the fields.  If President Trump is in charge, these raids against farms will stop immediately.

It's the freaking point

Protests this weekend are going to be HUGE. Our entire city will be out there, and I laugh at anyone who thinks it’s going to be violent. There will be kids selling candy bars for their basketball teams, guys making balloon animals, folks grilling, babies, and everyone ready to sing and chant.

Every elected Republican should be asked if they think the president has the power to send in military in to “liberate” a state or city from its elected government.

In Donald Trump's America, if you say "I am Senator Alex Padilla, I have questions for the Secretary," you get thrown to the floor and handcuffed.

Because Black people know that there is no such thing as “identification” or “identifying yourself”. They aren’t saying Padilla didn’t identify himself as a U.S. Senator. They are saying that there is only one acceptable identity — credential — being white and, in these times, being pro-Trump.

Afterwards, Sen. Padilla framed what happened in exactly the right way: "If this is how the Department of Homeland Security responds to a senator with a question...I can only imagine what they're doing to farmworkers, to cooks, to day laborers, in Los Angeles & throughout California & the country."

Nothing like Kristi Noem dismissing Padilla as “political theater.”

This is a US Senator.

You all had a chance to vote and prevent this.

Christ

Just *imagine* what our country could be if people could get behind the idea of social welfare, even for folks who aren’t white!
