With some sanctions dating back to the 1970's now lifted, and with the business-savvy work-hungry mentality of Syrians; Syria's economy is set to thrive. Of course reversing the damage is gonna take time, but as long security is ensured so Syrians get their opportunity, it'll be eye opening.

A huge opportunity for Syria and Syrians. 27 EU member states have followed suite and agreed to lift all economic sanctions on Syria, except for those designated to target Assad linked individuals/entities.

Syrian journalist Ghassan Yassin has been arrested by Turkish authorities without any explanation provided. Turkey must clarify the grounds for his detention and grant access to his family and lawyer, or release him immediately.

Ahmad Al-Sharaa has cycled through masks in pursuit of power: He began with the jihadi face under Baghdadi, shifted to the Al-Qaeda brand to replace his boss, then adopted a watered-down jihadist identity to rule over Idlib, and now cloaks himself in Syrian nationalist and liberal rhetoric.. 1/4

Anyone arguing that a leader should be trusted just because they seem to want to do good for the country, no matter their intention to rule for life, is out of their mind, especially Syrians who've just overcome a 54-year dictatorship.

Those framing Syria's current diplomatic wins as fulfillment of its people's aspirations are implying that Assad's only failure was not shaking hands with global/regional powers. Ultimate aspirations are being sidelined, as if to imply that few Syrians were ever in it for freedom & equality.

There is an attempt to reduce the Syrian struggle for freedom & equality to economic semantics. After years of war, Syrians certainly need financial recovery, but our ultimate struggle has nothing to do with material hardship, anyone who thinks otherwise was either never, or is no longer part of it.

The same people now attacking civil society giant Ayman Asfari for his comments here were once celebrating rumors of his appointment as Syria's new PM. Bunch of hypocrites. The unshakable truth is this: without democracy, bold and front and center, Syria is destined to fail.

You can’t have your cake and eat it: If you blame secularism because of Assad, then ISIS must also be the failure of Islam. plain and simple.

Turning a blind eye to human rights abuses is out of the question. However, those who now speak out against the atrocities in Syria find themselves burdened with the grim reality that their actions may exacerbate the suffering of millions of Syrians already devastated by war.🧵

Erdogan's thought process right now: 1 down.. 1 to go... With democracy like this, who needs dictators?

Some are criticizing the installation of CCTV on Syria’s streets, when it should really be recognized as a tool for justice & public oversight. Of-course the footage must be publicly accessible via citizen requests, upholding that oversight, justice, and the right to information.

In practical terms, siding with the strong against the weak is easy, but morally, it is far more difficult for others.

Transgender people in Syria continue to face state-sanctioned persecution. In Damascus, this Syrian was arrested as part of an ongoing campaign of humiliation. Those involved in such policy making and execution show a total disregard for freedom and human rights, not to mention zero compassion.

Yes, Tesla stock is crashing, but it's only down to where it was during the October 24th rally. It's going to take sustained effort to sink it... but, if it sinks enough, Musk may be forced to sell Twitter because many securities were backed by Tesla stocks Act on this how you will

In March 2011, when it came time for Syria's revolution, each one of us had to confront the fear that the Assad regime had long instilled in us. This was my moment, when I broke those barriers and cried out freedom for the very first time. No one will take that away from me.

The problem is not only that Al-Sharaa is being nursed into greatness, his crimes against the Syrian revolution are being whitewashed in the process.

It might be that most Syrians would vote for Al-Sharaa as president, which could explain why many seem unconcerned with democratic checks and balances, after all, why worry if the leader you prefer is already in power? However, this is a recipe for consensual authoritarianism.

If the investigation of Syria's coastal massacres is concluded and justice is properly served, those who are bootlicking for the state and harassing critics will have contributed no value to the process. 1/2

Promising statement and responses to questions posed by the press to the spokesman of the investigations committee examining Syria's coastal massacres. A lot is riding on this being a genuine, unbiased investigation, trust in Syria's justice system is an absolute imperative.

Brigette is a parasite, who wants nothing more than for Christians to be persecuted to forward her Islamophobic agenda, Here she shares a recent photo from Syria of Christians & Muslims expressing unity together to back up dubious claims that Christian’s are being slaughtered. a fabricated story.

Those who claim the Syrian revolution is over are full of shit, merely echoing the words of a man who was off chasing global jihad while Syrians stood unarmed on the front lines, chanting for freedom in the face of tanks. Freedom, equality for all and democracy.. then it's over.

Syrians of the revolution watched all the hard to watch videos, as though it were a duty, all of them. The recent massacres in Syria should be no exception, bearing witness is an act of empathy, and as an activist, you need empathy.

A calculated disinformation campaign aimed at causing chaos in Syria by no means justifies turning a blind eye to the massacres in the coastal region. Call out the fake news whilst simultaneously raising the voices of the civilians who were massacred. Both can be true.

The civilians killed in Syria's coastal region are a stain on the Syrian revolution, unless we, as its representatives, genuinely stand up for the victims and their communities. If we fail at this, our revolution will have failed.

IMPORTANT The Syrian Democratic Forces' official press release on the agreement with Damascus mentions that Syria "should be a decentralized state" This suggests two possibilities: either Al-Sharaa is signing premature agreements with Kurds/Druze for show and a way out of the current crisis.. 1/3

All those apprehended for atrocities in the coastal region must be made accessible to journalists for rigorous and informative questioning. Full transparency is essential in Syria, regardless of the perpetrators' backgrounds, and this should of-course apply to all war criminals.

If it emerges that children were executed intentionally during these events, under any pretext, religious or otherwise, and we attempt to downplay it or deflect blame, we become culprits in such a crime. The Syrian revolution cannot have that blood on its hands.. No fucking way.

One cannot claim Al-Sharaa successfully merged military factions into the defense ministry on the one hand, then label the same factions “external entities” when they commit atrocities. Anyone making both claims isn’t serious about accountability. If the merge failed, own it.

Al-Sharaa’s balancing act between the hardline extremists and the rest of Syrian society can only be deemed successful if he is able to tame the extremists, ensure they are under full control, and make clear that any violations of the law will be met with severe punishment.
