If nothing else good comes of 2025, at least we have gotten two stellar narrative puzzle games. First I fell hard for Roottrees are Dead, only to soon become consumed by Blue Prince and I could not be happier about it

Uh oh, I think I like Folk Music.

Sometimes I wish I were in a book club so that I had someone to rant with about this damn book, that I’m hate-listening to at this point. And Somewhere Beyond the Sea, which was equally rantworthy for completely different reasons.

Back in 2020-2021, it was hard to make any plans more than a week or two in advance because I didn’t know what The State of Things would be. 2025 is starting to feel a lot like that.

Loafin’ around, baking Sunday Sourdough 🍞

Not me ugly crying to Land of Confusion when it came up on my 80s playlist. Oof.

Just finished tonight! The Stardust Grail by Yume Kitasei - My first five-star read of 2025? Absolutely fantastic space heist adventure, with charming characters and great worldbuilding. Loved it, highly recommend! 💙🪐📚

The Chiefs finally put points on the board after the rest of my family stopped watching lmao 😂

Thought I was getting catcalled today while on a walk, but it was just a dog barking out a car window as it went by

I mentioned this before but I am so in love with moss stitch these days! Using some cotton-bamboo blend yarn from my stash for a baby blanket or small throw. 🧶 #crochet

Now more than ever, it’s good to have a strategic reserve of Girl Scout cookies

Hung out at the library after work today, and overhearing the absolute joy of two boys nerding out while reading a book about dinosaurs together absolutely made my day. “This book is awesome!”

Finished this cross stitch last night! I really love it because La Croix is one of my core personality traits! The pattern didn’t say to backstitch, but I’m debating whether to add some around the can. Thoughts?

Me at home: Get a clean coffee mug every day Me at work: rinse my one mug out with hot water and wipe it with a paper towel: good enough

Anyone else have a “conference call” project they work on? Currently working up a scarf with some leftover merino. Moss stitch is my new favorite crochet stitch- it looks great and works up fast! 🧶

2024 was a huge reading year for me (71), and while I’ve set my Goodreads goal to 50 for 2025, I wanted to add a few more granular goals: - read 12 middle grade books - read 12 graphic novels - read 6 nonfiction books - read 2 “classic” books

I’ve been traveling for work a lot lately and I think I left my cross stitch project at the hotel on Monday 😭

Mmm, nothing beats the feeling of having to put on cold damp jeans first thing in the morning because the dryer decided they were done way too early last night ☺️

I tried listening to the Wicked audiobook yesterday during a long road trip, and y’all, it was a mess. It was so bad. I couldn’t finish it. Skip the book! 💙📚

One of the things that make quilts the superior throw blanket is that in winter, unlike our synthetic throw blankets, the quilts do not generate static electricity!

Something to consider this Thanksgiving

I’m an elder millennial who, until a month ago, had never used a food processor. My dudes, it is so, so great. I just made 4 pie crusts in record time. Pillsbury is dead to me 😆 Also Midwest Taco Night has never been easier lol

I get asked all the time how I have time to do everything (as a mom, working full time, doing many crafts and extracurriculars). It’s a lot easier when I just accept a higher level of clutter in my house. Once I’m finally done with this quilt, I may have to go on a cleaning spree.

I’ve been stitching the quilting since April and it’s finally ready for binding! Tacking down the binding will be a breeze after all that hand quilting.

I don’t know how many car wrecks have happened because of drivers filming TikToks/Reels while driving, but it’s gotta be >0. They may have something great to say but I can’t watch because it stresses me out 🙈

Ok #quiltsky, what kind of needles are we using for big stitch? I’ve been trying to be a good Girl Scout by Using Resources Wisely (using what I had that worked with pearl cotton - crewel). Almost done quilting now and finally wondering if this was the best choice for my wrist health.

I am no longer offering to delist people from my "follow farming" list once you contact me and I explain why follow farming is a disinformation operative's wet dream to spread their disinformation with. Read this. bsky.app/profile/raha...

My tortie cat usually only operates on her one orange brain cell, but her black ones must have activated today. She got herself stuck in a kitchen cabinet, and then actually meowed so that I knew to let her out, instead of hiding for hours quietly until I noticed she was missing. What a day!

My default doom scroll lately has been window shopping on ThredUp. I know it’s CoNsUmERiSM but it feels much better than any social media feed I’ve seen lately.

I’m not sure what I hate more, knowing there are mice living in my garage, or having to clean up a successful mousetrap 😬

Working on my quilt, cheering on the KC Current with kitty snuggles - Not a bad start to Saturday.

Hello Bluesky. Nothing clears the head quite like a walk!
