(1/2) With a heavy heart, I have written to the Prime Minister to tender my resignation as a whip. Whilst I will continue to support the government in delivering the change the country so desperately needs, I cannot vote in favour of the proposed reforms to disability benefits.

Good morning everyone! It is officially TWO WHOLE YEARS since Sex Self-ID became available in Aotearoa New Zealand! And not a single person has been harmed, bothered, or inconvenienced by it. TERFs are all big fat losers and liars.

Great to see a push from mayors for a visitor levy/tourist tax recently. An absolute no brainer. In the UK 5% of tax is raised locally/regionally - compared to 13% in France and 31% in Germany Those countries have DOUBLE the rate of local economic investment That's no coincidence

The Madleen aid ship with Greta Thunberg on board heading to Gaza is now surrounded by Israeli boats, says Freedom Flotilla Coalition member Thiago Avila: “We are being attacked.”

Looks like the CME has arrived!

Thanks for all the love for #NION If you’re one of the 1202 people so far who’ve liked my original post but maybe didn’t get round to signing, please make sure you do. chng.it/gyvYtb4Tvy

To mark the 1st day of my 4th year without Alice I have an announcement: I’ve joined up with a determined group of women working to change the narrative around trans people. Women standing in solidarity with our trans siblings. Our first step is to ask cis women to read and sign our open letter ⬇️

“Aotearoa only loves haka when it suits. We put it on the tourism ads. We use it to sell tickets to sports games. But the moment haka challenges power? We say: ‘Oh, don’t do that.’” — Anton Matthews.

This is one of the most profoundly beautiful pieces I have read in a long time

"In the sea? Chance in a million!" I don't think I'll ever get tired of this clip.

To be clear this is a proposition by the insanely corrupt and broken EHRC. It's not law, it's not guidance, it would lose in court. Don't panic, don't do it

The EHRC code of practice guidance consultation has arrived. www.equalityhumanrights.com/media-centre... We will forward any resources we find about filling it in. But don't rush to fill it in just yet. This thread will explain why: bsky.app/profile/what...

We need codified legal abortion yesterday.

I'm watching the Parliamentary debate about the self-ID e-petition and my JAW IS ON THE FLOOR. The MPs speaking are hitting ALL the key pro-trans talking points: - transphobic bias in EHRC - nightmare of SC ruling - toilet bans are awful - must hear trans voices - IGLA rainbow map 1/

on this date eight years ago, Tom Holland wowed Zendaya on Lip Sync Battle with his cultural critique of impervious surface stormwater runoff.

In hindsight, there are at least three pretty major postpartum things I should have officially complained about (and any number of times I was just made to feel like a terrible mother), but at the time I just didn't have the wherewithal. The system needs a lot of work.

To prevent deer from being hit by cars Finland has tried using reflective paint. (https://www.smithsonianmag.com/smart-news/avoid-deer-strikes-finland-painting-deer-antlers-reflective-paint-180949792/) File this under "solutions to modern problems that summon the old gods."

Happy Easter from Brockley

Today, there are still protests happening across the UK! Check out our website to see where your nearest one is!

I've made a site that lets you check whether the lifts are working at any station super quickly: lifts.matteason.co.uk Please share it with anyone you think would find it useful - I'm really keen to hear feedback and suggestions #accessibility

Today's the big day! There are 22 planned protests all over the UK and even one abroad! Find out if there's one near you here: whatthetrans.com/compilation-...

Changed my mind. I'm now giving 100 of these away instead. I wonder if that might be possible, by next week, if this gets enough shares and hits the algorithm?

Heard a 'thwack' from the direction of the patio as something small landed from a height. I'm guessing somewhere nearby a bird is now having a Bad Friday.

valid every day but especially today: love & strength to trans pals, you don't deserve all this shit being flung in your direction, here's to hoping these freaks find a new obsession soon and you can live your lives peacefully and happily x

A friend of my parents, who has known my dad since 1969, sent me an email after reading my book 21st-Century Yokel, which has quite a bit about my dad in it. "It's good that you tone your dad down when you are writing about him," she said. "Because if you didn't, nobody would believe he was real."

The garden is *very* grateful

Excellent thread.

See? Insane nation committed to the bit

Massive congratulations to the milnesium tardigradum, winner of Invertebrate of the Year 2025. Wish I’d put money on it. This creature has endured all five previous planetary extinction events, so now feels like one of its epochs. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

YOU GUYS.

Me: Is that squirrel alive or dead? Dogs: UM. COMPLICATED. Me: Come on, it's not a philosophy question. Dogs: SOME PARTS ALIVE SOME PARTS DEAD Me: ............I'll get the sharp shovel.

There's something interesting here about the way that CAs were set up, and the expectation at the time that they would be very different sorts of organisations to what they are currently (1/)
