This whole, "sexual assault and harassment is bad when Trump does it, but ok when our side does it," is sending a really clear message that the old guard of Democratic leadership only cares about women when it's politically advantageous. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

Chamboi and Twiggy are two of my adoptees. The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust rescues orphans of all types in Kenya (maybe not lions) and raises them until the animals are ready to be reintegrated into the wild. I recommend reading their stories and adopting the orphaned elephants, giraffes, and rhinos.

Fact checking about assorted theories about the MN political assassination by the MN Star Tribune k(aka the Strib). Spoiler: it was not a left-wing attack. www.startribune.com/fact-check-d...

BREAKING: Shooting suspect Vance Boelter was arrested by authorities late Sunday evening in Sibley County, according to a high-ranking state official.

The radicalization of the American right is THE story of US politics over the last four decades and political reporters are still not allowed to talk about it

gonna caution everyone about national accounts covering the news in MN - stick to locals. already seeing lots of misinformation coming from people who do not live here

If you'd like a discussion about RFK jr's fondness for miasma theory without a dose of "well, he might have a point here", may I recommend this from @bethmariem.bsky.social ?

All the credit that Tim Walz got as a VP candidate for good stuff that Minnesota has done? Melissa Hortman (and a bunch of other women) led the hard fight to get bills on his desk and make it politically safe for him to sign.

AG Ellison staying at the No Kings rally despite being on the assassin’s hit list to tell the crowd to not be stopped, to keep marching is exactly what I needed in this moment.

the thing these people have not understood is that Americans don't really ~do~ military parades. it's not in our national character. that's good, actually!

Melissa Hortman helped pass a lot of legislation as Speaker of the MN House, but before she was in a leadership position, she was already a leader. I first became a fan of hers in 2017 when she stood up for her colleagues in the House. www.teenvogue.com/story/meliss...

I never met Melissa Hortman, but, each in our lane, worked on a bunch of the same issues. No one gets all the credit for legislation, but I think its important for people to understand how much good Speaker Hortman did/led/was a part of. That's something being an aging union guy equips you for 1/12

I really liked the poem Kyle Tran Myhre read at the No Kings rally in St Paul today and I'm grateful he has already posted it online, both the text and a link to a recording.

Today was tough, but it was good to see so many people at the Capitol for the #nokings.

An important rite of passage for being a Tru Twin Citian is begrudgingly subscribing to the PiPress or Strib and then rinsing your palate with a Racket subscription.

The Orphans’ Project began in the 1950s, when Daphne and David Sheldrick started raising orphaned animals in Tsavo. Their pioneering work laid the foundation for modern elephant and rhino care. Today, led by their daughter Angela, we continue that legacy—rescuing, raising, and reintegrating orphans.

considering the overton window has shifted (once again) to "should women vote?" AND women are actively being imprisoned for the crime of miscarriage AND we're policing gender presentation.... the idea that men are "under attack"????????????????????? c'mon you babybrained asshole

The real tragedy of young men today is not that they're being held back from success by a bunch of woke scolds. The real tragedy is that they're being told that success & happiness come through escaping all constraints, dominating & controlling others, & suppressing all vulnerability or weakness.

Whenever I see or hear the name Cassie Ventura, I think, "Jesse Ventura's daughter?" (Spoiler: no.)

But this story isn’t about the current DEI panic. It’s about the enormous financial pledges MN companies made in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, and whether or not they’ve followed through as the sociopolitical culture around diversity has reversed course.

8/10,although if I encountered any of the photos in the wild without a comparison or being told one of each pair was definitely AI, my score would be more in the 0-2 range. I guess I need to start being more suspicious and trusting less. Great.

It's our biggest sale/raffle ever. Deal ends June 1! racketmn.com/help-racket-...

Pretty sure I've been a Racket Accomplice since day 1, but don't let that turn you off! Local, locally funded journalism is our only hope! Plus Racket has that knowing, cheeky alt-weekly vibe—who doesn't want to be knowing and cheeky? Hop on the supporter train.

Quite frankly we need to pick up the pace! racketmn.com/help-racket-...

I finally got around to subscribing to racketmn.com thanks to their spring membership drive. Great reporting, great deal! Help get their member count up!

This is such an exciting project! And such a bummer of a setback.

Not prophetic. Writing aboard the ship (but sent before it left port?), the author reserves judgment on the new ship. He didn't say, "In 5 days I'll be on a lifeboat because this ship is going down." He says, "seems OK so far but we'll see." Probably like travelers on other (not disastrous) trips.

I wrote a film score for @filmscorefest.bsky.social! It premiered in a live concert this weekend! It’s five minutes long! It starts at 38:00! www.youtube.com/live/yk4ugVJ...

Dumbest timeline.

Barry Blitt’s first 100 days cover for the New Yorker.

"You've been chosen," the spirit said. "What?" "Save the world, make it kinder, cleaner, safer." "Me?" "Yes." "Alone?" "We chose everyone." #CrossRepost
