it’s possible that symbolic bike lanes painted on crazy fast roads are a net negative on the uptake of cycling? For most people, these might be the only bike lanes they see, and conclude that in order to bike, they need to ride in these lanes.

When Mr. Musk, the wealthiest man alive & major campaign contributor, expresses strong distaste for Trump’s Big Beautiful Bill, Republicans will listen & obey. That means more cuts to Medicaid, nutrition & education. The oligarchs want it ALL. We’re not going to let that happen.

Jonathan Joss, known for King of the Hill and Parks and Rec also played Robert Rainwater in Cyberpunk 2077. He was a great actor and my heart goes out to his family and partner. May homophobes rot and burn.

This is Koda. He is approximately 70% fluffy and 30% floppy. An ideal ratio. 13/10 would pet enthusiastically (IG: koda_and_wrigley)

Decided to start sketching again #chickensofbsky

Started working on this again 🩵

Hell yeah

Rest in peace Jonathan Joss

I’m guessing it’s part of a bit. They need to fit more clown fish into one of those tiny clown fish cars

Clownfish in Papua New Guinea are temporarily shrinking in response to heat stress caused by climate change, a new study found. Here's how that might help them deal with warmer water temps.

Good article and bleak subject matter but I wish they didn’t keep saying “thirsty”. I’m too online poisoned to handle that phrase

The EPA's environmental justice office potential closure hits over-polluted communities, yet they fight on.

This is such a perfectly condensed little parable of the horrors of the bullshit machines: a completely ignorant and illiterate shibboleth against standard punctuation, born from nothing and threatening to take over in no time—meme as prion chewing holes in the brains of a generation

Someday we'll have to reckon with the fact that not only are billionaires bad for society, having that much money seems to be genuinely bad for their own mental health. This is a problem we need to address--if not for our sakes, then for theirs.

This Princeton prof's op ed is exactly backwards. Enrollment plateaued because the number of American 18-year olds was flat and now SHRINKING. It's not that international students are muscling aside US citizens, they are filling seats that would be empty and forestalling campus closures

New in PN: How the “pink tariff” hurts women "The downside of tariffs goes far beyond the stock market; it’s about who ultimately bears the cost of an economic crisis. As the data shows, women, especially Black women & girls, will once again be left feeling the pain." — @itsafronomics.bsky.social

one of my overriding beliefs is that sports betting should in fact be restricted to seedy bars where you have to place bets with a guy named something like Vito Four Fingers rather than being easily accessible with a couple clicks on your phone know what you're getting into

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules. It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

Many others are posting abt this too but this graphic viscerally shows how dire the presidential budget is for NASA 🔭🧪and worldwide astronomy. I can’t express how sad this makes me, as an American scientist. And it’s mostly already paid for projects, so also no logic in terms of saving money.

The extreme sport of ultrarunning is known for seemingly impossible feats. But Stephanie Case's recent performance — six months after giving birth — is making waves far beyond the running community.

This is happening all around the country, not just in Arizona. But the Health Department isn't telling us anymore. RFK halted the bird flu vaccine work. So let's see how this works out 😑
