🌱 The climbing rose 'Sally Holmes CL' blooms in clusters. Each cluster of flowers remind me of bridal bouquets. It's a beautiful climber that handles part shade well, too. #Bloomscrolling #Garden #Zone8b

🌱 I seem to be growing a lot of harlequin ladybirds along with my plants. I don't know enough about asian ladybugs to know if they are good, or bad, for the Pacific Northwest. One thing is certain, my aphid numbers are significantly lower this year. #garden #bugs #Zone8b

🌱 The miniature roses are blooming. I enjoy their blooms, but don't know if I would add any more to my garden as they only bloom one time each year. I prefer roses that bloom in multiple flushes. I have miniature roses in red, cream, yellow and peach colors. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

Thank you Seattle. www.yahoo.com/news/thousan...

🌱 A throwback to the days of old. This is Rosa gallica officinalis, also known as 'The Apothecary Rose'. During the middle ages, this rose was cultivated by herbalists and apothecaries. In terms of history, this rose is the oldest rose in my garden. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 This is 'Earth Angel'. I planted her in part shade just to test how she would do. My plant isn't overly bushy, but each stem has multiple roses and buds. She gets a lot of sun in the Autumn and Winter due to her placement beneath 3 deciduous trees. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 This rose - it's a new rose. Unnamed. Unregistered. Yet, it's as beautiful as the roses that come from well-known brand names. Bred by Frank Gatto of Raft Island Roses in Gig Harbor, WA. Frank has been breeding roses since the 1990s. His roses are gorgeous. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 It's going to be a balmy 72 °F (22 °C) today. It will be cool enough to work in the #garden, which is good, there's a lot to be done. This beauty is an English shrub rose called 'Gentle Hermione'. #bloomscrolling #Zone8b

🌱 Enjoying a late morning cup of coffee with sun-faded 'Emily Brontë'. It's not easy to take a photo of an individual flower with this shrub rose. It's a mass of blooms all over the plant. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 One more day of the heat wave before temperatures are comfortable again. The 'Sarah Bernhardt' peony didn't seem to mind the heat. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 Roses are beginning to look crispy as we go through a heat wave and there isn't enough time to water all of them. I still refuse to admit to having too many. 😜 This is a climbing rose named 'The Generous Gardener'. It's doing well because it gets afternoon shade. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 I bought 5 'Marc Chagall' roses to be a transition rose between my yellows and a neighbor's pink. Plans changed, and the roses ended up in my back garden. I am enjoying the bright pops of color that these roses bring. The roses change color as they open from bud to bloom. #bloomscrolling #Zone8b

🌱 Some roses grow beautifully in part sun. 'Ebb Tide' is one of them. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

Final Version 2 (lmao) This is not the be-all end-all guide to gardening! It's a quick-start guide for beginners. You may have included different questions in there, and you're welcome to make your own version. Feel free to share wherever you'd like, (please tag me if on social media) πŸ₯°

I just learned that Harvard offers free classes. pll.harvard.edu/catalog?&pri...

🌱 Brightening up the shade garden with rainbow Coral Bells. A garden, without diversity, is boring. #garden #Zone8b

Practicing biosecurity measures with backyard flocks will help prevent you, or those you love, from catching bird flu. If you have a flock, here's a list of preventative measures: doh.wa.gov/you-and-your... If your birds get sick, remember to use PPE when you are near them.

🌱 'Fourth of July' is an easy care, disease resistant climber. The canes grow long and thick. This climber has reached the eaves of our house, and that's after pruning it back significantly this spring. She grew out of control last year and we kept walking into her. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 It seems like, over night, most of the #roses have exploded into bloom. This is 'The Generous Gardener'. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 This is 'Peace'. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b

🌱 Grateful for a beautiful day. #bloomscrolling #garden #Zone8b
