A nonprofit with the same mission from El Paso is also scheduled for oral argument

A little reflection for 2025. There's no i in team. Thankful for my colleagues (and competitors).

Happy 2025!

It's been zero days again since someone got caught smuggling baby spider monkeys

It's quite a collection

Me getting road rage after drinking two sodas and getting a sugar rush (I don't drink soda regularly): OH shit. That's my mom. (I don't think she saw me) 😬

I heard a rumor that he requested asylum but was never able to verify

Re: Texas Public Information Act

Cameron County will allow residents who live around Starbase to vote to incorporate if the petition is in compliance

We've been expecting this here in Cameron County. First heard rumblings of the idea around 2019. The county judge didn't immediately take our call this afternoon.

This story is a great journalism lesson in rumors. Many aspects of the problem here came in over a year as rumors. As the rumors began to repeat in the community they began to connect, and then we began to confirm parts of those rumors. This story is just another step in the reporting process.

Time for a walk? I think they are.

When a government agency is trying to get a hold on a story because a key individual is not "available" until next week... it's not happening

He agreed to testify truthfully against William Garcia for 5 to 30. Garcia -- the only suspect who made bail -- goes on trial tomorrow morning.

A rescue. A lover. An excellent protector. A very good dog. Girl is a lot fatter, happier and smart.

Working on a foggy night at the Island.

All done with this one. Lesson on overdoing it learned as I relearn how to paint after going dormant for more than a decade. Definitely enjoyed the process and moving on to the next one.

Update: I just fucking left. Sanity is more valuable to me than some kind of fucked up manipulative loyalty that tolerates absolutely terrible behavior.

Me at Thanksgiving

I am having a really fun time with this painting

Saw that an outlet or two not from the area reported that the Gulf Cartel has expanded into illegal fishing. That's just not true. This has been going on a long time. On Sunday, the Coast Guard stopped three lanchas, 19 Mexican fishermen & seized 2,200 pounds of red snapper off South Padre Island

New PIO not wanting to be responsive for days over an obligatory introduction email and folo ups trying to make contact. I've known your boss for years. I'm a longtime local journalist and community member. I will be a problem if you don't want to do your job. Whatever lol. Your choice.

The Brownsville Herald and MyRGV.com have covered this story extensively with insight about the local impact SpaceX has on the #RGV. Veteran journalist Steve Clark finds his pen and notes: “Another key finding is that the Starship launch is ‘substantially louder’ than the launch of a NASA … rocket.”

We write about seized monkeys more than you would probably expect.

The Border Chronicle has dumped X. Our first post on BlueSky...Hope you will read and subscribe. We write about the U.S.-Mexico border from a border perspective. 🔥 🦂https://www.theborderchronicle.com/p/the-red-revenge-tour-a-q-and-a-with

The ruling came late last week

Having fun with a painting

We're libtards for reporting on a water crisis where we live. OK. Lol.

Hard eye contact is key. Miss those days.

I love odd news

The U.S. International Trade Commission, or ITC, on Tuesday determined that the U.S. shrimp industry is being “materially injured” by imports of frozen warm-water shrimp from Indonesia that the U.S. Department of Commerce says are being sold in this country at less than fair value. | #RGV

“We started out fostering, it was just going to be a foster case and the minute they took them away from us someone was going to adopt them, my heart broke and I said, ‘No, those are my children,’” Darlinda said. “I fell in love with them and we decided to adopt.” | #RGV

We've tried to get comment for a couple weeks, but here's what you need to know.

We found out where SpaceX gets its water for its deluge system. There's a bunch of stuff a Brownsville utility does not want us to know.

Her arrest comes just days after one of the assassin's pleaded guilty during the middle of his trial.

The Rio Grande is seen from a private dock along the river on Thursday, Nov. 21, 2024, in Mission. (Delcia Lopez | [email protected])

As of now, there's no mechanism in place for Valley farmers to even access the water. @myrgv.bsky.social

We almost made it thru the year w/o any cases, but I'm not surprised: the mosquitoes have been horrible here this year. @myrgv.bsky.social

After years and years and millions of dollars, the project has to completely start over because of faulty construction.

While facing charges, he also unsuccessfully ran to be president as a Republican

Definitely amused at SpaceX fans complaining about traffic after the launch. I'm the dumbass who drove to the Island to fish on Spring Break and Semana Santa, multiple times. Accept your traffic fate!
