"institutions of higher learning are about to be pummeled by the looming reconciliation bill which weaponizes working-class families’ debt financing college dreams. not only will it push millions to the financial brink, it will push them out of higher ed altogether." newrepublic.com/article/1970...

Maaaaaybe you could make Trump signify the status quo but we're still so far from him meaning "just another Republican"

Authority outside the individual has been gendered and coded by the right as anti-freedom as(at least)a 60 year project

honestly does seem like the basic dynamic in american politics right now is that a critical number of voters treat Democrats like their (nagging) mom or their (bitch) wife and treat Republicans like the “cool” dad or husband who is at best a deadbeat

This is the kind of weird technical but obviously wrong thing that the GOP used to not try to massage. They'd either cook up intel or just rely on calling then barbarians instead of doing disavowal

still think this is one of the greatest posts ever made

wasn't Fordow the model for the strike mission in Top Gun: Maverick? fucking baudrillard

another post 9/11 style overreaction, this time the 9/11 was "we had a black president"

really just catastrophic and unnecessary and awful

Yikes.

the longstanding Purple Onion adult bookstore in Nashville closed and somehow got an even weirder name

"Rontgen levels in Chernobyl source of some uneasiness"

"why is this one ad for a bourbon with a high life chaser just the same songs by The National?"

good old nashville weather, threatening storms but being weirdly cool?

it was such a pleasure to review this generative book by @jamiemerchant.bsky.social

“As Merchant makes so startlingly clear, there will be a tipping point, a reckoning, a break, an ultimate end, and it may not be that far off." @sarahbrouillette.bsky.social reviews “Endgame.” https://lareviewofbooks.org/article/conspiracism-nationalism-decline/

this is craàazy

let's re-lead our water and paint too

the escalating "federal government war on cities" thing is obviously terrifying, and some version of ti has been cooking in right-wing fever dreams for a long time. key thing to understand is their rhetoric frames something in a certain way and makes it so. so cities are hellholes...

sure war with Iran, great, no biggie

sometimes even Dems need to Own the Libs by affirming predators

biggest takeaway i had from the protest today (visiting family in nashville, so that one) was normies chanting ABOLISH ICE which like...

i continue to think we are pretty cooked but if the fascists had a little more professionalism and sense about optics we'd be like, hundo p cooked instead of 75% roasted
