If you're interested in alliterative verse, a la "Beowulf" or "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" (or Tolkien's "Lay of Hurin" or "Fall of Arthur"), you might want to consider signing up for the Forgotten Ground Regained email discussion list. For the nerdy at heart! :) gaggle.email/join/forgott...

Hey, since I'm doing threads today, let me do a thread on my current call for submissions for the Summer issue of Forgotten Ground Regained. The call is for "Protests, Opinions, Prophetic Voices, Flytings, and Poetic Battles". I'm opening the door to anyone who wants to go full on polemical.

Here's a good overview of poems from prior issues of Forgotten Ground Regained. Useful if you want a sense of the kinds of poems I like before you submit to the summer issue,!

FYI for those who love Tolkien's poetry: the author page for JRR Tolkien has as complete an index as I can manage to all of his alliterative verse. #tolkien #poetry #poetrysky #medievalsky #alliteration #alliterativeverse alliteration.net/poets/jrrtol...

A really thoughtful, important, and (yes) scary thread.

I'm giving a talk on the modern alliterative revival at this conference at the University of East Anglia Sept. 1st. store.uea.ac.uk/conferences-...
