Not really thought of Fathers Day as a thing, damn american nonsense. As Dad got older it seemed to be more important to him so I did send cards and phone him. He's 5 years gone now and miss him more than I thought I would by now. 1st pic around me being 1 in 1966.

Carmen Silvera #BOTD 1922. I had the privilege of signing in the guests at a charity do in the 90's and she was one of the guests. Such a sweet and humble lady. Forever Madame Edith in 'Allo 'Allo.

Lovely, if a tad windy in Folkstone today. THE best fish n chips in the south east. I really don't understand how other outlets get away with the crap they sell. This is quality and everyone else should do the same or not be in the business. Rant over.

In my *Happy place* today at Tinkers Park steam fair and car show, very near me in East Sussex. First came here as a kid in the 1970's. Very nostalgic for me. Cider, classic cars and steam engines. What's not to like? 😎🌞🍻👍

Remembering the late Actress, Dame Thora Hird (28 May 1911 – 15 March 2003)

One of my favourite actors Marius Goring was #BOTD 1912. Unforgettable as Conductor 71 in the brilliant Powell & Pressburger film 'A Matter of Life and Death'. Also fantastic in the 1950's TV series as The Scarlet Pimpernel.

Pretty happy with this new acquisition, only I'm running out of wall space to hang this stuff up!

In November 1932, my grandmother Norah, 24, attended the Grand Order of the Water Rats Ball at the Park Lane Hotel with her Uncle Albert Egbert and Aunt Daisy Dormer. The evening's entertainment, 'Rats in the Attic or Rushonanoffski', was written by Will Hay & Marriott Edgar #MusicHallVarietyDay

Postcard of the great Gus Elen relaxing at home with 'Arf a Pint of Ale on #MHVD2025. Also a rare Snap game card. @musichallsociety.bsky.social

Another tea themed offering for #MHVD2025. Postcards featuring Dan Leno, Herbert Campbell and Johnny Danvers advertising "G.P Government" tea and one of just Dan for 'Phillips's Pure teas'. @musichallsociety.bsky.social

Remembering Roy Hudd on his birthday or the #FoodAndDrink themed #MHVD2025 here are two of postcards of Vesta Tilley serving and drinking tea, and Roy as the Sergeant Major in the 1970's Quick Brew tea ads that paid for his house in Henley. "Every brick a tea bag!" @musichallsociety.bsky.social

Stone me! What a fab evening yesterday when Steve Punt unveiled a blue plaque on Tony Hancock's former home on behalf of The Hancock Society. Toured the stunning house and sort of recreated a pose standing in roughly the same spot as Tony in the back garden. Then to the his local The Red Barn! 🍷🍷

This media platform may well be kinder than X/twitter but it's just soooo damn quiet! The evil other side gets way more interactions, so reluctantly, at at least for now that's where I post the most.

*It's* Michael Palins 82nd birthday today. What a legend!

This afternoon in Eastbourne. Parked about half a mile from the classic car show in Gertie and still got favourable comments from passers by. (Maybe should enter her next year?) Nice free car show on seafront. Parking a bit tricky early doors.

Harvesting (and scoffing) delicious fresh watercress for a friend today. Photo doesn't really show just how steep a slope and that I'm in a flowing natural water spring bed in my waders. A highly secret location!! (Near Glasgow, just to throw you off the scent)

Just cutting some asparagus to go with a bit of steak. I give so much asparagus away to friends and still have plenty for our needs. Yesterday I saw in a farm shop they were selling 6 smaller spears than mine for £6.90!!! Come round here and you can cut your own for nothing.

Pashley Manor today looking stunning (apart from the hateful Photinia Red Robin on the way in. Supermarket carpark/new housing development plant). Fab tulips and wisteria. The food is very good too. The Lemon cheesecake is to die for! @PashleyManorGdn

Tomorrow! Premiere Friday 18th April at 9pm join #CarolineMunro in THE CELLAR CLUB for more new series chills! DOOMWATCH (1971) episode 'The Iron Doctor' and CATACOMBS (1965) with #GaryMerrill & #JaneMerrow Don't be late! Caroline will be waiting. #TPTVsubtitles

The curtain rises once again… Music Hall & Variety Day is back for the 6th year - Friday 16th May 2025. The theme this year is Food & Drink - interpret in any way you wish. We look forward to seeing those posts #MHVD2025 #musichallvarietyday

Jean Marsh who co-created and appeared in 'Upstairs Downstairs' (and therefore giving Dad an immense career boost) has died aged 90. R.I.P

Great night in Eastbourne last night watching the hilarious Harry Hill! Haven't seen him for years but I used to go to loads of his early shows and recordings for telly and radio. He remembered me! #WhatAreTheChancesOfThatHappening?

In a Shoreham antiques emporium earlier today. The stuff of nightmares! #EvilVentDolls #ArchieAndrews @youngalison.bsky.social @musichallsociety.bsky.social @tonyhancock.bsky.social (I'm actually ok with a bit of Archie with the Hancock connections but the rest are evil and creepy!)

We lost the great Roy Hudd 5 years ago today. @musichallsociety.bsky.social @youngalison.bsky.social

Yesterday in the West Sussex sunshine. Jonathan Creek's windmill!

Stouffer guards the stage in anticipation of Harry Hill at Wilton’s Music Hall…a brilliant night out.

Too try and boost the interest in #MusicHall on #MusicHallMonday here are a couple of blue plaques. Vesta Tilley just off Hove seafront (I used to live a couple of hundred yards from there). Also a Will Hay one from a house in Streatham. @youngalison.bsky.social @musichallsociety.bsky.social
