Alina Habba, Trump’s personal lawyer and now the interim U.S. attorney for NJ, announces that the Trump administration has arrested the mayor of Newark at an private prison that ICE had decently contracted as a detention center. His arrest is seemingly for trespass.

Guessing this agreement is neither full, nor comprehensive, nor a trade deal.

But we don't "own" those waters, any more than China owns the South China Sea.

American needs more white conservative children. That’s why we are closing hospitals in predominantly white conservative parts of the country and having HHS give dangerous medical advice that only white conservatives are stupid enough to believe.

Patel works for a President that the Supreme Court decided it should grant immunity to, and who routinely doles out pardons for his political supporters. There is now a whole class of people in America who assume the law is irrelevant to them, and it does not include the judge who was arrested.

“Black Press USA has learned that Trump officials are sending back exhibit items to their rightful owners and dismantling them—starting with the 1960 Woolworth’s lunch counter sit-in exhibit.” blackpressusa.com/the-smithson...

I don't remember the last time I was this emotionally invested

I have three bottles of champagne set aside. One for her, one for the oligarch, and one for the dictator. And I intend to live to drink all three.

Steve Kerr wore a Harvard basketball shirt after the Warriors’ win tonight: “Yes, this is me supporting Harvard. Way to go. Way to stand up to the bully.”

Even if you (wrongly) believe that some immigrants lack due process rights, what’s to stop the government from claiming that *you* are an undocumented immigrant; removing you to El Salvador; citing an “administrative error”; and refusing to do anything to bring you back? The answer is due process.

Breaking: U.S. Customs and Border Protection to now give visitors entering the United States the choice of being disappeared, acquiring an entirely preventable disease, or crashing in an airplane.

I wrote about this a bit in my last book but it really shakes me that a defining feature of this catastrophic era is that we just keep going to work. We work through pandemics, we work through natural disasters, we work through economic calamity, we work through coups, we work, we work, we work.

The Washington Post can confirm that Gen. Tim Haugh, the director of NSA and chief of U.S. Cyber Command, was ousted tonight along with his deputy, Wendy Noble. That's a big damn deal. CYBERCOM is one of the 11, four-star unified combatant commands.

The Deputy Director of the NSA acts as the COO of the agency. Wendy Noble is a 38 year veteran of the NSA. She is not just an executive, but also a certified collections officer who is fluent in Arabic, Russian, and French.

You can totally see how this mf bankrupted a casino.

No one could have predicted that Trump would do all the tariffs that he repeatedly said he would do during his campaign.

Every so often, it just comes back to me in full force. The political and economic order that allowed this man to come to power is obviously no longer tenable. The leaders who let it happen obviously have to be replaced. This is an epoch defining failure and we have to turn the page completely.

Oh just Texas Congressman Keith Self directly quoting Joseph Goebbels during a congressional hearing….what planet are we on smh

I don't often lack words for what I'm seeing, but I am absolutely without words: TX-03 Congressman really just quoted Joseph Goebbels and then walked out of the committee like he hit a home run.

Ah, that’s probably why he had a reputation for being “difficult”

Wild that Boomers and Gen Xers get to see a second empire implode in their lifetimes, though less surprising given the balance of who voted to blow up this one.

Trump Says He Won’t Rule Out Third Reich

The Onion is willing to say it theonion.com/trump-says-h...

We expected 2,000 people out in GOP-held Greeley, Colorado. 11,000 people showed up. Something special is happening, folks. Now is the time to organize in every dimension possible and get to work.

Allow me to go on record that this is a terrible fucking idea, and that any team who does this is dooming itself to misery. Maybe it's only 10% now, but private equity is a creeping mold that destroys everything it touches.

Every rank-and-file Republican is like this now, on the verge of tears while saying "all I want to do is give my children a future by spreading AIDS and measles and unilaterally terminating every NIH grant and also making it illegal to be trans."

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

The touchstone of most authoritarian regimes is not the kind of total control that most people feel in their day-to-day lives. It is that the regime is only selectively bound by law, producing constant low-grade anxiety as to whether, how, or against whom power will be exercised.

Part of me is still yelling at a 2007 episode of “Meet the Press” where Carl Levin, senator and presumably bad poker player, said sure, of course Democrats will strip their withdrawal provisions from an Iraq war funding bill if the president vetoes it.

Democrats Sick Of Being Blamed For Cowardice On Issues They Actually Just Don’t Care About

one thing i keep thinking about is how there is simply no way to design a constitutional system that can resist authoritarian incursion if participants in that system do not actually care that much

The detention of Mahmoud Khalil puts all Americans fundamental rights at risk. And if you can’t see that because you oppose his politics, well that’s exactly the reaction Trump and his cronies are counting on. www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archiv...

Inkhornism [INGK-hworn-iz-uhm] (n.) - The overworking of something such as a piece of writing. - A showy display of knowledge. Used in a sentence: “Were it not for my penchant for inkhornism, my essays would never be long enough to receive full credit for the assignment.”
