The primstaff symbols relate to the solar cycle, - i.e. they are fixed on dates in relation to the sun. These are a couple of primstaffs from Norwegian log calendars. They mark St John's eve, which is traditionally the time of the midsummer/solstice celebration in Denmark and Norway.
