It is actually funny to see “cybersecurity culture” work in 2025, at least 8 years since the first grifters used the term, and for sure two years since most of them moved onto selling “ai solutions” “crisis comms” and “comms” 😎

Do SDKs show real app network traffic? We analyzed 275 SDKs across 1,175+ apps using AppFigures, comparing expected data recipients (SDK owners) with actual companies in network traffic. Our findings uncover key data privacy complexities in mobile apps. internetsafetylabs.org/spotlight/do...

www.ncsc.gov.uk/collection/c... Sorry @ncsc.gov.uk but cybersecurity culture is just word salad, these principles are good but most security teams work the opposite way (arrogance and shame and deep lack of professionalism) and I’m so VERY tired of iceberg and pyramid graphics in cybersecurity

#EduSky A must-read esp. if you use AI tools, are being made to "just try them" at school, or are having your students use them.

I think we should have better “tech experts” in education than white men running round Dubai trade shows telling us about “innovation”

Financial literacy means that you understand money and when to spend it, and where not to spend it. You manage risk. “Ai literacy” has become “use this with no consideration of risk to you or others”

Also because of GPS tracking, tech companies and governments know where we go. And with who. LLM companies know a lot about you too. And more than “Google am I pregnant”, they know how much work you are outsourcing to their tool, or the questions people in your company are asking. Sit with that

People are laughing about how young people can’t imagine a world without GPS, getting paper maps out and following them.. But that’s the future if we don’t push back on LLM use: no one will care for books, thinking or knowledge. In the same way people drive into rivers now following GPS.

i have the brain cells & masters in compsci to handle a nuanced discussion on the broad topic of artificial intelligence, but not the character count allotment on here. i will say, the “you’ll be left behind if you don’t use it” crowd is very goofy just like the “have fun being poor” web3 folks were

I have spent the last five years removing the word “phishing” and all its derivatives, from any cybersecurity training / documentation that I am allowed access to I use scam. It translates well and people understand it. Accessibility isn’t just alt text it is language too

What happens when public data is shared with the wrong people? 🗃️ The Department for Education (DfE) maintains records about everybody who has received state-funded education in England since 1996 in the National Pupil Database. It routinely shares this information with third parties. (1/3)

Really disturbing article. Layered on top of the backlash against feminism and men's grievance politics, utterly dystopian. If these developments won't persuade (tech) libertarians to rethink, nothing will.

Cybersecurity people love to start a podcast and talk exclusively about themselves, or stuff that people already know. Or just vendor bs. If only we had a sector that understood communication, and audience. Because then the public might have been reached and informed and might trust you all.

No I am not excited that a tech journalist has discovered edtech, as they have once again ignored over a decade of edtech advocacy work, lobbying and voluntary time donated by people who care. Simply because those advocates can’t sponsor a podcast or don’t have enough social following. Keep it

edtechawardsglobal.com Just found out there are edtech awards 🤮

Many of us have been sounding the alarm on edtech for years and I’d go further and say that schools have become slaves to the metrics. Be it from an app or from the desire to go viral on TikTok by making a video with students. Safeguarding and learning are being discarded by schools.

Accurate because the kkkardashians, the Mormon mom TikTokers, the people dancing to “they are eating the dogs”as a song, the rich influencers like the Darnells or Addison Rae, Boris Johnson, Farage as funny, all of it is far right for consumption. Stop buying it.

This is such a good listen, the book has been a pleasure to read too. Such a balm against the hype. Catharsis,as Alex says.
