Making veeerry slow progress, so I've only increased by word count by 5k (23k/80k) over the past couple of weeks. I'm writing whole new sections and massively cutting passages, so it's like hacking through a thicket. Slow progress is still progress. 💪

So today was the official release day for my first traditionally published book. Out in Greenwood is an LGBTQ+ teen novel with humour, mixed with the emotions of realising you are gay at 15 but having to hide those feelings. Please retweet to help me get the word out.

Fascinating piece, I love finding out more about why kids choose the books they do. When I ask kids in my life, the answers are often not what I would have expected...showing how important it is to talk to kids about their reading vs guessing why they like things. #KidLitUK

Been sidelined by a very strange, intense project that's definitely NOT a whimsical MG, but I can't stop writing it. Currently 30k deep and it is so dark and brutal and kind of funny, and it feels like a real evolution of my voice. Just got to give myself permission to write freely, not neatly.

Cried buckets after reading 'So Thrilled for You' by @hollybourne.bsky.social. Brought back some very raw and intense experiences. I find it so hard getting into non-fiction ‘parenting’ books that always leave you feeling ‘less than’, so reading a fiction book THIS GOOD is a sanity saver.
