Demonstrations against Trump are getting larger and louder. This is absolutely essential. But Trump’s regressive populism — cruel, tyrannical, bigoted, authoritarian — must be met by a bold progressive populism that strengthens democracy and shares the wealth.

Here's the truth about tax cuts for the rich. They explode the federal debt, fuel giant profits at the biggest firms and financial institutions, and stoke a surge in billionaire wealth, but do nothing for average working people.  Nothing trickles down.

“Through interviews with me and others, [60 Minutes] painted a damning picture of a president out for retribution and a legal industry too cowardly to stand up to him,” Marc Elias writes. www.democracydocket.com/opinion/my-t...

Tommy Tuberville says his wife's homestead exemption established his residency in Alabama, but election records show both of them voted in Florida after that. And that's only the beginning.

If a democratic president would have targeted law firms like Trump did, the GOP would have sacked the Capitol. Again

DOGE initially promised to save taxpayers $2 trillion.  Now it admits it's only delivered $160B in cuts. And even those minimal savings are nearly wiped out by the cost of implementing DOGE's cuts: $135B. We're losing vital government services for basically nothing in return.

WELKER: Don't you need to uphold the Constitution? TRUMP: I don't know If a president’s answer to “do you need to uphold the Constitution” isn’t yes, HE NEEDS TO BE IMPEACHED IMMEDIATELY.

The Trump family's crypto business just got a huge $2 billion investment from a UAE government-backed firm. We are witnessing a foreign government effectively bribe the President of the United States — right out in the open. Hello?

Few lawyers are willing to speak publicly about President Trump’s actions against law firms. Fear is rippling through Washington. But, despite being a target, Marc Elias is still talking. Scott Pelley sits down with him tonight on 60 Minutes.

Trump's budget calls for a 22% cut that would hit the CDC, NIH, FEMA, EPA loan programs aimed at protecting drinking water, and much more. All to finance giant tax cuts for the rich. Oh and Trump is proposing a record $1 trillion military budget. "Fiscal responsibility."

@gavinnewsom.bsky.social: "This is the cornerstone of what makes America, America. To defy a federal judge's order... The Founding Fathers did not live and die for this moment. If you want this democratic republic to survive, that has to be called out with clarity and conviction." [email protected]

The next days and months and years will demand from all of us great courage — and solidarity. Be prepared.

Trump signed an executive order that will delay Medicare price negotiations for a range of prescription drugs. This will raise the price of life-saving medicine for millions of seniors and cost taxpayers money. It's a big win for Big Pharma. A "new Golden Age" for whom?

I’M GOING TO KEEP POSTING THIS STORY UNTIL ANDRY IS FREED: Gay Venezuelan makeup artist sent to Salvadoran prison after a disgraced cop's report Andry Hernandez Romero sought shelter in the U.S. because he was persecuted as a gay man, one of the "particular social groups" allowed to claim asylum.

See how this works?

BREAKING: Federal judge rules that the Trump administration showed “a willful disregard” toward his order to stop deportation flights and will start criminal contempt proceedings. From: @jaknutson.bsky.social

This is the kind of thing that, if true, leads to life sentences for treason

A staggering 70% of Congressional Republicans would personally benefit financially from the party's own tax plan. How will the tax cuts being pushed (that predominantly benefit the wealthy) be paid for? Drastic cuts to programs that help millions of people. Reverse Robinhood.

President Trump has no authority to unilaterally impose his disastrous tariff agenda. These reckless tariffs have created economic chaos, skyrocketing everyday costs and inflicting billions in damages on the state, families, and businesses. We will be taking this to court.

We’re suing President Trump for unlawfully imposing tariffs without Congressional approval. These chaotic, haphazard tariffs are not only wreaking havoc on our economy and pocketbooks, they’re illegal. We’re going to court to protect CA’s consumers and the 5th largest economy in the world.

Blatant corruption. www.cnbc.com/2025/04/12/t...

Cost of extending the Trump tax cuts for the rich: $4.6 trillion Cost of cutting corporate tax rate to 15%: $1 trillion Remember this as we hear about "wasteful government spending."

The stock portfolios of more than two dozen members of Congress outperformed the market in 2024. This isn't due to luck or skill. Lawmakers can use privileged information to trade stocks while they’re supposed to be working for you. Make no mistake, it’s legalized corruption.

This is happening in spite of the fact that the president is not in charge of the Smithsonian. It's not an executive branch government agency, rather it's chartered by Congress and under a board of regents created by statute, none of whom are even appointed by the president.

Trump's EPA just moved to reverse state and local bans on toxic "forever chemicals" that can lead to birth defects and cancer.  So much for "Make America Healthy Again." https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2025/apr/05/trump-pfas-toxic-forever-chemicals

Trump bears the bulk of the blame for the unprecedented global economic crisis now unfolding. But let’s not ignore the role played by the hideously bad judgment of the business and financial leaders who supported Trump and didn’t realize this was an inevitable outcome.

I am convinced a major factor in the tariff disaster is that Trump has so consistently been met with cowardice and capitulation from every quarter in American politics that he imagined other countries would just as easily fold to bullying.

SpaceX just landed a $5.92B contract with the Pentagon for Space Force rocket launches — the largest contract among the three firms who secured deals to send satellites into orbit. While DOGE cuts essential services for you, Musk is getting a taxpayer-funded windfall. Hello?

NEW: Jamie Dimon, CEO of JPMorgan Chase, the largest U.S. bank just officially predicted a recession live on Fox Business News. This is bad.

Another betrayal to the service and sacrifice made by the officers who defended the Capitol. Trump directs the justice department to reimburse Jan. 6 rioters for refunds of the restitution payments they made to cover damage to the Capitol. He doesn’t support the police…he never has.

One way I’m understanding the Trump admin is that they’re jettisoning anything with even a whiff of small-l liberalism — global trade, higher education, basic science, the biotech industry. But what they don’t realize is that American power is rooted in liberalism. It is a liberal hegemon.

If Trump can claim a "national emergency" to disappear legal residents without due process, what’s to stop him from doing the same to U.S. citizens who oppose him? No one is safe — not even people legally in the country, possibly not even American citizens. Fascism is here.

It seems that Trump wants a recession. Why? A recession will drive down the prices of real estate, companies, and shares of stock. Trump and his fellow billionaires want to buy up everything on the cheap and then enjoy the ride upward — no matter the cost to working people.

15 years ago the Supreme Court decided corporations are people under the First Amendment. Today, billionaire political spending is up 160-fold since that ruling. We must overturn Citizens United. Every day, it corrupts our politics and erodes our democracy.

Reminder: Tariffs aren't paid by other countries. They're eventually paid by us at the check out line. And they're regressive — taking a higher percentage out of the paychecks of working people than out of the wealthy.

Trump says the US has spent $350 billion in Ukraine, and Europe has done less than us. Is this true? Nope, take a look and be sure to like and subscribe to my new YT channel youtu.be/ZROD0LjN3HU?...

This all alone is an open-and-shut cause for impeachment, yes there are dozens of others but sometimes it's clarifying to just look at one

I’m all for reducing spending, but to do that during a recession is economic suicide. Anyone who knows anything knows that

"Even the singular act of holding a sign in opposition to the president sends a message. It says that, as a citizen, I am concerned and demand to be heard. It says I have the right to stand outside on a raw, lousy day and express my opposition..." www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/202...
