Hey, it's me! My international celebrity peaked when I played Gerhard Schröder (in giant papier-mâché head) at the 2002 G8 protests. It was the only time Schröder was ever seen wearing blue suede Airwalks. calgaryherald.com/news/the-las...

It took her a year, but Kayla Czaga is finally launching her new @houseofanansi.bsky.social collection, "Midway," in Vancouver! Featuring guests Brandi Bird, Dina Del Bucchia, Megan Fennya Jones and @pipagaopoetry.bsky.social. Hosted by yours truly! RSVP here: www.facebook.com/events/31747...

Ngũgĩ wa Thiong'o was one of our greatest writers. He was my vote for the Nobel Prize every year for the past decade (give me a vote, already!). His books, especially these two, helped shape how I see the world. I'm glad that, for a while, I got to be alive on the planet at the same time as him.

Wherever you are, let out a primal scream for Paul Dutton today: youtu.be/th-pbiwcipI?...

George Murray's (@bookninja.bsky.social) online poetry magazine, NewPoetry.ca, is back after an eight year hiatus. Hurrah!

My #BCPoetry interview series with @readlocalbc.bsky.social has come to an end for another year. As usual, we wrap things up with a post in which our featured poets get a chance to pay tribute to a BC poet who inspired them. There's lots of love in this post and I hope you give it a read:

We are officially open for poetry manuscript submissions! ✍️👀 Our poetry manuscript reading period will remain open until Saturday, May 31st, or we reach two hundred submissions—whichever comes first. If you have a collection ready to send in, we'd love to see it! www.biblioasis.com/biblioasis-2...

Tomorrow! I'd love to see you there!

"I am the city falling into the sea. / But there remain acolytes in me" Yeesh, now that's how you open a book. "Re-claim" by @toluini.bsky.social, from Unravel.

In finally done grading, and grant-writing for the Fraser Valley Writing Festival. If you need me I'll be reading these books on rotation until feeling returns. (I encourage you to do the same - they're gems, every one.)

Tonight! I'll be speaking with Kate Braid about her new @caitlinpress.bsky.social memoir, The Erotics of Cutting Grass. 6:30 pm at Upstart & Crow on Granville Island. I'd love to see you there! upstartandcrow.com/event/the-er...

Thank you to @canadianpoets.bsky.social for featuring my poem "Waking to an Empty House," from Weather (@gaspereaupress.bsky.social), in their "Poetry Pause" series: poets.ca/waking-to-an...

Congratulations to Marc, Bren and Chimwemwe! We learned yesterday that the identities of the jurors will never be revealed (Wizard of Oz-style), so I want to throw a huge thank you to them out into the void, in hopes they might hear it. It's a ton of work and they deserve their laurels.

I'm reading with the Poet Laureate herself, @eleekg.bsky.social, next week at Lunch Poems. Will she allow me to kiss the royal ring? Will she name me a vassal, with my own poetry fiefdom? Reserve your free tickets at the Eventbrite link below to find out: www.eventbrite.ca/e/lunch-poem...

The Spring 2025 issue of @arcpoetry.bsky.social is here, featuring my interview with @aliblythe.bsky.social about his recent @gooselane.bsky.social collection, Stedfast. Go grab a copy!

Join us! Tomorrow! From your living room!

We’re excited to announce the May 11th edition of Dead Poets Reading Series at our new home, Outsiders and Others #100-938 Howe St! featuring @jaeyunwrites.bsky.social, Dora Prieto, Curtis LeBlanc and Alex Leslie! Reminder that this is a masks-required event. See you there! www.deadpoetslive.com

The current bid is $65 for a signed copy of Weather and a custom, handwritten plum poem. $66 could redirect that sweet, cold glory into your mailbox.

Well, this is just so nice. Weather is now shortlisted for the Raymond Souster Prize and, best of all, received this lovely comment from the jury. And this shortlist! Manahil! Chimwemwe! Jane! And Zehra and Shō, who I hope to get to know better soon. poets.ca/shortlist2025/

The Authors for eSims for Gaza auction is live! If you win the bid for a signed copy of Weather I'll come out of plum-meme retirement and handwrite you an original, exquisitely stupid, plum poem. app.galabid.com/authors4esim...

There are few greater honours than this (and all the moreso when the poem is this good). Thank you, Jessica!

Letter from Iwo Jima

Hey look! It's me! And so many friends and soon-to-be-friends. I encourage you to give all the poems a read, and vote in the Readers' Choice Award by May 15th. Free plums to anyone who votes for me at least three times.

The seventh, and final, interview in my 2025 #BCPoetry interview series with @readlocalbc.bsky.social is here! I spoke with Cecily Nicholson about her just-released @talonbooks.bsky.social book, Crowd Source. I hope you enjoy it: www.readlocalbc.ca/2025/04/30/w...

A lovely thing happened! Congratulations to all on the Raymond Souster longlist, and big thanks to the jurors and the League of Canadian Poets for adding Weather into the mix. poets.ca/longlist2025/

I can think of few better ways to wrap up Poetry Month than a free chapbook from Chris Banks! 🥳
