Real thing I said about therapy this week: When therapists tell clients they should become therapists, it means that we: a) like you b) think you've experienced the kind of fucked up shit that leads to folks becoming good therapists. #therapistsky

Just got to see a talk by RF Kuang. It was so good, y'all. If you ever get the chance to be in a room with her, take it.

Seconding this but also adding Happy Friday to all the therapists who had to cancel sessions this week in order to take care of yourself. I know the guilt that comes with that, but it's good when we model self-care by prioritizing our own health. 💜

Today in realizations I had (and said) in therapy: You know, I think part of why people enjoy socializing over food is that it's an acceptable way to fidget and not make direct eye contact while we talk. Client and I were both like "Whoa" after I said it. #therapistsky

Real things I said in therapy this week. (Remember, I'm the therapist.) "Like you're not going be the lesbian Caitlyn Jenner, here." And, in closing a session, I raised my Coke can and said, "Here's a toast to having better sex than Ben Shapiro's wife." I love my job. #therapistsky

I get why there's a lot of focus on the ideas part, but please note the dehumanizing language of referring to people as "it"

Today I cancelled sessions and have spent my time developing and now implementing a plan to push back against a local healthcare provider (UPMC) that is complying in advance by refusing to provide Gender Affirming Care for folks under 19. Coming up with a plan was not difficult. But (more)

I haven't posted on here in a bit. Here is a pic of Cheeks, one of my rescue kitties who I was told three months ago it would take me six months before they would tolerate pets.

At our house we are not really into the Super Bowl per se, but I am psyched to watch the half time show. 95% because I love Kendrick Lamar and 5% because I think it's probable that he will insult Trump to his face, and I want to experience that live.

I do love a good burn.

Gotta love all the liberals posting about Trump's Gaza statements and belittling folks who refused to vote for any level of genocide instead of blaming Harris for not condemning it. And I say this as someone who did vote for Harris and really struggled with condoning a > 0 number of dead kids.

I have successfully done an in-person session with my ankle in a boot on an ottoman that our admin brought in for me. Four more to go today (and a bonus telehealth session as well.)

I see my doctor on Tuesday and I am hoping so hard that I can go back to the office in large part because I prefer in-person, in smaller part because some of my clients need in-person, and in a tiny but still very real part because I miss getting Door Dash from places that aren't near my house.

The other new-to-us cat has now allowed himself to be seen by me and even ate some treats I tossed his way. It has been a horrible week where the world is on fire but a traumatized cat thinks I'm a safe person and that validation helps a smidgeon.

Earlier today I got one of our two new to us cats to eat a treat out of my hand. He is thinking about pets but he's not quite ready yet. I regularly talk about how cats are so good at setting boundaries, and despite his background (both of them came from a mass surrender/hoarder situation) More

No matter how friendly they are on TV one should probably apply critical thinking before following a billionaire's suggestion. Just saying if you have publicly stated you want to invest in a company as soon as you can you should probably disclose it's not just about sticking it to Musk and Zuck.
