Tonight's viewing: Threads (1984) A BBC production that offers a grim and realistic view of the world during and after a nuclear war. A more effective film than ABC's The Day After(1983) made for a tiny fraction of the budget. Somehow nuclear war seems less frightening in the Era of Trump.

RIP, Blondie drummer Clem Burke.😒

Excellent and revealing interview today with Jason Isbell on NPR's Fresh Air. Worth a listen!

The good news for Springsteen fans is the announced impending release of Tracks 2: The Unreleased Albums, in various formats. 7 discs. The bad news? Amazon shows a pre-release price for the CD version of $299. Too rich for my blood; pass.

A major shift in global economics caused by one obsessive, poorly-educated old man based on outdated macroeconomic policies from a century ago. What could possibly go wrong?😑🀑

Now more than ever, Donald Trump is a fucking moron. So is anyone that supports, empowers or excuses him. And if you voted for Trump in 2024, you are responsible for what's happening.

Cat owners! Anyone else noticing that some varieties of Fancy Feast are in short supply again? It's been going on for a couple of weeks, and it doesn't seem to be a local problem. It brings back unpleasant memories of the early months of the COVID pandemic.

Thinking of Alex Chilton (1950-2010), the music legend who passed away on this date 15 years ago. ❀️

Happy Birthday, Townes Van Zandt (1944-1997). ❀️

Listening to and loving Foxes In the Snow, the new solo acoustic album from Jason Isbell.

Happy Birthday, George. ❀️

As well they should.

Klaatu barada nikto. Or not. I could go either way on it.

The Daytona 500, regarded by NASCAR fans as the "other Christmas" here in the South. Already ruined by the presence of that corrupt orange shitball.

I left NYC a long time ago, but I recognize a corrupt scumbag when I see one. Eric Adams is as dirty as a politician gets. The fact that Trump and his lackeys so willingly made a deal with Adams speaks volumes. Quid pro quo? You bet it was. This is the worst kind of corruption.

Why do otherwise intelligent people give a shit about the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame? (Warning: My annual rant). The RRHOF is not an indication of artistic achievement. It exists solely to sell back catalog and ease a few consciences. That's it. The RRHOF doesn't matter, it never has and it never will

@petebuttigieg.bsky.social Welcome, Mr. President. Just practicingπŸ˜„

Think how upset Trump would be if he saw this. πŸ˜„

Sorry to hear that David Johansen (New York Dolls/Buster Poindexter/solo) is failing. After giving us do much great music, he could use our help. www.sweetrelief.org/davidjohanse...

If true, wow. How one be unimpressed by what you see and hear at Auschwitz!?😑

Of all the insane schemes offered by Trump and his enablers, having the US take over and own Gaza is the most fucking crazy I've ever heard. Such arrogance, such stupidity, but hey, that's Trump.

Listening to Live At Leeds by the Who (1970). Next week will be the 55th(!) anniversary of this performance. Still sounds great, of course, but with every reissue it gets longer; the original 39 minute LP runs nearly three times that length on the most recent CD edition!

Listening to Blind Willie McTell (1898-1959) on this beautiful and mild February morning. Any day you get to hear Willie McTell is a good day. β€οΈπŸ˜„

Watching a few minutes of the film Contagion (2011), about a deadly, world-wide pandemic, and which I first saw shortly after its release. It seemed far-fetched at the time. But then COVID happened ....πŸ’”

Settling in to watch the Super Bowl pre-game show. Yes, I know the game is next week. πŸ˜„

Republicans are renowned for their xenophobia, right? So where is their hatred for Elon Musk, an obvious threat to our way of life? I'm beginning to think Republicans only fear POOR immigrants, and that it's acceptable when a wealthy fascist buys himself a seat at our table.

So Trump's arrogance and stupidity is going to wreck the American economy, and not one Republican appears ready to stand up and oppose his idiotic tariffs.

This isn't a terrible President, this is a terrible person. And not a word to console the families, or reassure the public. Despicable.

An airplane and helicopter collide, dozens of innocent people are killed, and Trump's first impulse is to hold a news conference to blame everybody he can think of, without any proof, while absolving himself of any and all responsibility.

RIP. Marianne Faithfull πŸ’”

RFK, Jr. is a fucking joke. Anyone who takes him seriously is stupid or insane. Unqualified for any position involving public health.

Acosta gets it; where we are and what we are facing. Looking forward to seeing what he does in the future.

I like Jim Acosta and wish him well when he DOES leave CNN. He's a solid and responsible jounalist who did not screw up his career and karma, like so many others, by playing stupid games during the recent election season.

Jim Acosta's Wikipedia entry says that he's left CNN, but he's still on the air in his usual timeslot today

On this Holocaust Remembrance Day, thinking of my great-grandmother, Lilli, who died at Auschwitz in 1942.

25% tariffs on goods from Colombia? Whatever. But just ordered four pounds of coffee at today's price. You know, just in case. πŸ˜„

Mam, this is a Wendy's drive thru ....

No one asked me, but I've been a Bonnie Raitt fan since 1972, and she never recorded a better album than her second, Give It Up (1972).

I could be happy, the rest of my life, with a synonym girl. Well, it makes about as much sense as "cinnamon" girl .....πŸ˜„
