So many historians who are thoughtful and interesting in books and then complete lunatics in the pages of the Telegraph and the Mail. Surely they don't need the money that badly?

I haven't watched any Final Destination films (I've seen clips so I kinda get the idea of the films), are there any I need to see before going to see the newest one in cinema this weekend? #Filmsky 📽️

I just got back from seeing 28 Days Later for the first time and I've just realised I have no plan for if there's a zombie apocalypse #Filmsky 📽️

Listening to Brexiters is to see a group of people who haven't changed as the world/country around them has. That's Starmer's gamble. Then as now, they continue not to reckon with a simple truth: we still need the EU more than they need us. New from me goodallandgoodluck.substack.com/p/brexiters-...

This is utter gibberish from Harry Cole.

I can't help but feel that BBC's football coverage won't feel the same now that Linekar is stepping down. I think the World Cup next year is where it'll be felt especially.

The "he says, she says" model isn't just bad journalism: it's anti-journalism, because it abdicates the core journalistic responsibility to establish the facts & report them. And it feeds the model of politics as a spectator sport, in which the role of the commentator is just to describe the play.

OTD in 2014 I got my hopes up so bad 😭 #hcafc #FACup

Sinners was awesome, the music throughout was excellent and it was just an all-round brilliant film 📽️

And so it's been confirmed... I'm not sure how the club can expect any kind of stability if they're going to act this way #HullCity onefootball.com/editorial/41...

Finally going to see Sinners tonight It's been hyped up a lot so I am excited!! 📽️

Honestly, if this is true then that really is shocking and I'll be so frustrated. #HullCity onefootball.com/editorial/41...

Starmer's language was deplorable. It was grotesquely offensive, accusing people who have brought their gifts to this country of doing "incalculable" "damage"; & politically foolish, in endorsing Farage's claims of an establishment conspiracy. But bad analogies with Powell miss the key problem. 🧵

The debate around care visas in the political space boils down to people saying stuff like this - we desperately need people. It's a good soundbite but... A significant surge in care visas were issued since 2020 in response to sector demand and yet the problem of shortage has persisted. Why?

Happy to share my latest blog post following what’s been a busy week in the brain tumour campaigning space. It’s important we maintain this momentum! www.thebraintumourcharity.org/news/policy-...

I'm ready for @bsky.app to allow me to set notifications for when certain people post

Great thread with some interesting stuff to read. This whole debate is very frustrating and has been for years and years

As Reform celebrates winning the Runcorn byelection, it’s a great time to ask: who funds the party? For our latest issue, @petergeoghegan.bsky.social dug into their donors. www.prospectmagazine...

Netanyahu’s plan to ‘move’ Gaza’s people would be a vile act of ethnic cleansing against a population already facing genocide. Two months of total blockade have starved Palestinians. It must end now: reopen crossings, deliver aid at scale, and stop assaults on civilian lives.

Alcatraz was political from the start. Opened in a blaze of publicity in the New Deal era by FDR to counter public fears of the gangster crime wave of the 1920s/1930s - but fiendishly expensive to run. Hence, its closure in 1963. Other prisons replaced it including the Supermax near Denver 1/3

I can't see it being long until there's a cabinet reshuffle of some sort

According to Reform, “Woke flags” apparently include flags representing: - English counties - UK Armed Forces - NATO - Ukraine Reform. What a bunch of muppets. www.telegraph.co.uk/politics/202...

Wednesday is the tenth anniversary of the 2015 general election, where David Cameron made a successful re-election case for stability, heralding much the most volatile decade in British politics and government for a century

It is pretty toxic for a defeated political party when half of their voters don't believe the results. The Muskification of the Very Online Right makes it harder for the paranoid minority to engage with reality

Fuck me - that's a whole new universe of embarrassing

Watching the VE celebrations on BBC. I can't help but feel that sometimes Clem Attlee gets overlooked for his role in the wartime government.

Just got back from seeing Thunderbolts* for the second time... Absolutely love the film and it's honestly one of my favourite Marvel films 📽️

THE GUARDIAN: Labour’s dangerous dance: How Keir Starmer risks undermining human rights in a misguided bid to control immigration rhetoric and appease the right. - by Jamie Burton

It is quite incredible the extent to which Trump is routinely held to a lower standard than every other politician. This would pretty much end the career of any other national leadership candidate in any western democracy, except none would ever do it - at all, still less during a mourning period

This sums the whole situation up quite nicely.

Just came back from watching The Penguin Lessons 😭 📽️

Big games for both my teams today (yes I'm one of those). Hull needing a win to have the best chance of staying in the championship - I'm not confident. Reading needing a win and Orient to draw or lose to nab that final play-off place. Should be an interesting afternoon of football!

Fantastic news!!! Now for a win today and hopefully the last Play-off place
