The cognitive dissonance required to support the government saying both “Forget vaccines, you just need fresh, healthy food” and “We’re firing all the food inspectors” is truly staggering.

It is truly maddening being alive and seeing all this happen in real time. This is not about Hollywood — but simply control of all information.

well

This is absolutely embarrassing for the studio (and all major studios) who do not know how to market all different kinds of films globally, especially ones that are an easy sell like SINNERS with *so* many ways “in.” It should still break $350m worldwide by early June.

Car buying negotiations with a dealership is such theater. I think I put on a fairly good performance. Not the flashiest but it got the work done.

Huh? But she *just* released Fetch the Bolt Cutters a year ago (two?). *starts counting in pandemic* Wait 🧐

Several Columbia Univ student journalists are suspended after covering protests (while wearing press ID) in the main library. Their access to campus is blocked, and they can't take final exams. Also: Columbia's acting president is a former ABC journalist www.columbiaspectator.com/news/2025/05...

Implement a 100% tariff and ruin movie 2 Pain 2 Glory

Warnock: Georgia officials said they were sorry but their hands were tied, you can’t vote the first weekend of the runoff after the holiday so I decided to untie them, I sued them. And I won… They appealed asking for emergency relief. Emergency relief from what? People voting?

Boomer parents 🤝 Gen Z students Taking pictures of the computer screen with their phone instead of screenshots to send/display images.

So… Connections confirmed to be on the dark side, right? 😜

When you suddenly see *many* posts from me on the same day, know that... I should be grading.

May the fourth be with you blessings I can stand by

I'm bad at promoting myself but I have alot to promote coming up 🤓 so here is a peek of a book chapter I co-wrote with my colleague. It's not meant to be exhaustive but a start for others to fill in and build on. My library has the whole book online. Reach out if you can't access it!

Waiting for those righteous "parents rights" groups to comment... any second now. Any second...

Feels like 75% or more of press interactions treat him (the President of the fuckin U.S.) with more leniency than a teacher would to a fifth grader on understanding of government and U.S. history.

If you’ve moved on from tracking this phenomenon, don’t know what to tell you. I’ll have more to write later!

I guess I'm rewatching Living Single again this year! My first (very late) watch-through got me through the last few months of my dissertation. <3

Hi. Remember those YouTube parodies of that ant-gay "gathering storm" ad from 2009? I wrote about them as a digital adaptation of zaps. Check it out, open access: ijoc.org/index.php/ij... www.youtube.com/watch?v=Phai...

Tonight was probably the season’s last chance to break out of its funk and oh well. There *is* still a way the season can be redeemed for me. We’ll see…

The press quote from the o*ange dumpster fire below sounded familiar so I asked chatgpt...

Ok now that the second weekend actuals have been released, I need to make this a bigger deal. SINNERS did not drop but actually *increased* in gross in its second weekend. Take out the $4.7M Thursday "previews" and the film made around $43.3M Fri-Sun Weekend 1. It made $45.7M Fri-Sun Weekend 2.

Can someone tell what the point was of including the side by sides at the end of WARFARE when more than half of real life counterparts were blurred out faces?

Less than 24 hours apart. Nearly all the information needed to call the weekend number as at least $30M were available when the first of these was published on Thursday afternoon.

When I teach media industries, I teach (among others) an article (de Castell and Skardzius) that uses the term "female tax" for the extra questions women game designers get asked in interviews/panels that are about being a woman in gaming, and which takes time away from discussing their actual work.

SINNERS as of 5pm for its second Friday at my local AMC. (A few more full show times but they’re in tiny auditoriums).

This film will clear $75m for its first week. It will make back its budget in less than 10 days of release. It will turn a profit before its theatrical run is over. A *wholly* original film with vision and audience on its mind. The financial success follows that.

Great FLOW piece quoted below… reinvigorates my desire to think more/write about the Once & Again confessionals (rarity in drama) where they also use shorter cutaways and looks (though in confessional) to achieve winks and humor.

Check out how the anchors of CBS Evening News ended their broadcast tonight:

I've had to make peace with the shift to Thursday movie release dates but I still cannot get behind combining the Thursday gross with Friday's as it makes claims below false. SINNERS actually *increased* from Friday's raw $14.5M. More people saw it on SAT (more important than a smallER drop off).

Now is not the time to turn away.

Got curious about the relationship between RottenTomatoes and Metacritic scores last night and was able to pull this together in less than 30 minutes between Kaggle datasets and ChatGPT.

Lawd leave it to RuPaul to give Liza a proper stage and tribute than the abysmal treatment at the Oscars a couple years back.

I searched (Google) for "famous movie title duos" and this is part of the result...

This was LITERALLY in an episode of Master of None *checks notes* TEN YEARS AGO!

Pundits are - in vain - looking to economics and politics when trying to explain Trump's behavior. But, in reality, the central place to look if we want to understand Trump and his policies is this: The psychology of dominance. 🧵(1/5)
