Update: I am not at all well. My health has got worse and I'm able to do much less than I was, which includes updating my Patreon. I'm discontinuing the Unconditional Love tier - please move to a free membership. It's not the end; just a pause: www.patreon.com/posts/state-... #SyntheticAgency

Now is apparently a good time to remind people why generative-'AI' is bad and how you do not have to use it to create your book covers for free or cheap: www.patreon.com/posts/118846...

"The Supreme Court was clear that trans people should be treated with dignity and respect. Why does the EHRC's interim update published on 25 April not address this point?"

Just heard about the latest Worldcon nonsense (using ChatGPT to get panelists without their consent). Sweet. Baby. Kittens.

Worse again today. Trying to do as little as possible to recover some functionality. I am so bored and frustrated.

This is 100% wrong. The point of impeachment is to help the 35% of Americans who don’t know about all the awful stuff happening under Trump to find out. It’s TV. This isn’t complicated or legal or even political. It’s straight out campaign media.

#WIPSnips 27 April: indeed Just one use in the whole of Synthetic Agency, and it's from quite late on:

For the folks who don't know: this is my queer Gothic gaslamp fantasy serial, the story Archer, Sabbat, Viola, Fest, and Mortimer are all from, and where pretty much all my WIPSnips snippets are taken from. There's a longer intro here, as well as content notes: saranadosfiction.com/2023/12/11/a...

Ugh can authors PLEASE stop shilling for the plagiarism machine, yes even ones that don't have to do with writing. OMFG

#WIPSnips 26 April: decor No 'decor' in Synthetic Agency, but I think this description is as close as it gets.

In all seriousness, anyone outside the US, *please* do not come here for the foreseeable future.

Honestly the same as the quoted person. I really wanted to be Ariel. I would pretend to be a mermaid every time I want swimming.

Sorry for disappearing off the map, folks. It's been a tough time with the old chronic illness.

#WordWeavers 11 April: Could your SC do your job? I am too sick to have a job. Ruth and Sam are able-bodied, so, no, they couldn't not have a job in the way that I do.

#WritersCoffeeClub 11. Share a favourite line of prose Mine, or someone else's?😂 Here's one from Stephen King - The first line of The Gunslinger: "The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed." It's engraved on my heart forever. It's so ominous and so simple and so powerful.

Kirkland & Ellis, Allen Overy Shearman Sterling, Simpson Thatcher, and Latham & Watkins should be viewed as administration shills now. It would be a mistake to engage them in any matter in which your interests and positions are not congruent with this administration’s.

The way I SCREAMED when he cut that woman off and said "we don't care." Rousing stuff. Delicious.

Simpson Thatcher, you fucking cowards.

Having a hard one lads.

There is, in my conception, nothing wrong with calling things disabilities. My disabilities - dyslexia, depression, anxiety, the resulting suicidality. Those in my family - Down syndrome, autism, crohns, fibro, adhd. And there's a lot wrong with saying "it's just difference." It is ALSO difference.

#WritersCoffeeClub 9 April: How much room for the fantastical is there in your work? All the room! I write SF/F/H erotica and romance. I write to be taken out of the real world and its real pains and lack of escape. The fantastic is essential!

Haha, my academic career means nothing anymore 🤣

#WritersCoffeeClub Day 8: Share a simile or metaphor that stuck with you. 'I will show you fear in a handful of dust' from t s eliot's The Wasteland but first encountered quotes in Stephen King's Dark Tower books - l The Waste Lands (which would make sense) but I'm not getting up to check. >

#WritersCoffeeClub 6 April: Do you edit while writing, or go wild and fix it later? Both is good 😂
